While I understand that my 15 hours /played aren't that hard to make up, WTF is Blizzards excuse for adding new servers and saying "please play on the new lowly populated servers" w/o giving character transfers?
On the other hand is anyone going to just toss their current char and move to one of the new low volume servers?

Ya that is kind of dumb. Unless for some reason you had a bunch of friends start on a new server i don't see it happening much.

I think that is the all time most pathetic comment I have ever heard from a gamer.

We started out on Stormreaver, moved to Sargeras with no problems. There's over 20 people in Nova, sure some weren't happy about it but they sucked it up and moved because they knew that's what's best for us.
I don't see what's so hard about starting over, I mean 1 day isn't going to make or break your guild on a server.

Yeah, I have 3 10+ chars on different servers b/c of different groups of people I play with. Just wondering what other opinions on this subject were out there.

I just get a little peeved by everyone giving Blizzard shit, when those guys have been pulling 16 hour shifts, 7 days a week for the past few months to get the game pushed out the door by Vivendi's date, when they can easily solve their own problems by listening to what Blizzard has to say and migrating to a less populated server.
I mean, are you really going to miss all the 13 year olds in SiN running around calling people "n****r" and "jew"? I sure as shit didn't care for them in Lineage 2.

Even though you prefaced it with your "while I understand," you still bitched at Blizzard for asking people to move servers without offering a character transfer... 2 f*****g days after release (or is it 1 day?)

Eh, if they can't give blizzard shit who can they.  .
The big reason I think character transfers would be attractive is noob zone relief. Its all well and good that they're saying "migrate to another server". But if 4000 people move to a west coast server they're going to have the same problems with crowded noob areas and lag. At least with character transfers Joboy_Guild_07 that has 130 people lvl 18+ could transfer and get into the less populated areas.

You act like migrating peoples characters is an easy task. I'm sorry, it isn't. You'd probably see more lag as a result, and people would complain even more, furthermore you can't do that many transfers instantly. It would take several days, and the result would be more whining from the 12 year olds.
The best solution is to let the population spread out over time. The server lag has nothing to do with lots of people in one area, and everything to do with the total population of the server being exceeded while 23984384923840928492384923 other newbs are trying to connect still.

I can't login to any server other than the one I already have a character on (which I left due to 30+ second server lag, dying to a mob that shows up on the screen as being 50 feet away, yay!). Even trying to connect to ones listed as "Low" population, I just sit waiting for the character list to load. I am willing to cut them some slack, but this is retarded. I'm trying to play by their rules but their suggestions don't work. Also I can't believe they're telling people to go to Mountain servers, of which there are like 3 or 4 PVE ones, and East coast had 7-8 "Low" population servers when I looked before, and all of the Mtn servers are "High".
I don't remember seeing troubles like this with EQ2, I guess Sony's "wait until the server fills up and then allow people to transfer" system is just better.

Of course, if blizzard can't handle the load, and they're telling people "you should play on another server, and we're hardcapping logins to see that you do this" its only day two (or is it day 1) so that's okay, right.

I am on the New Jersey server, real life. Trying my hardest to find a new career job in Manhattan so I can move back there with my girlfriend. Doing my best to avoid online gaming like the plague, Realpoor is my only major time waster left.
Yeah Yeah I quit EQ and came back 3 times before, but this time I spent a lot of time with a good psychiatrist and have a serious girlfriend whom I love, so my odds of staying off the crack are much better
