Well, that time has come that I really raelly need a car, and I want to do this right.
I've got about $3500 cash, and I don't have a job yet, although I'm starting in two weeks. Going to be going to college this upcoming fall, but I'll still keep my job.
Here's the car that I'm considering...
Link
I've always wanted a beamer, and this seems like a great deal. The VIN number checks out alright, nothing wrong with the car in that aspect. And I have a call placed, so if anyone tries to buy this before me, I'll know about it
Just give me your opinion on the car, I seem to think it's a great deal and want to hop on it. Some say I'm too young to have a beamer (I'm 19) and that I need to get a car that's less expensive and such, mostly due to the import cost on repairs. But I want the damn thing :p
edit- fixed the link

Dude...no. Just....no.
I know a girl who bought a two year old bmw 535 because she wanted to be cool and drive a bmw. A year later she really regretted it. At least it would be a cheap way to learn a lesson. And if Vio tries to convince you to get it, just remember that he shaves his balls.

Why did she regret it, NWS? Cost too much?

To repair, yes. That combined with the fact that she got tired of it. After you drive a car for a while, no matter how nice it is, it's still just a car.

I dont trust that price. Even with those miles. That isnt that much mileage for a BMW.
Ask if it has been wrecked and repaired. Ask about how its doing on oil use n such. ask if it has maintenance records.. all those questions.
I've had a mercedes, and the repair bills can be high, but really no more so than those of my Bronco. I think nowadays all makes of cars are expensive. If you called into Car Talk, they'd say get something boringly reliable like a Toyota or a Honda. There are some fun VW models too.
Do you want your fun to be the car, or do you want to reliably get to the fun?

If that's all the money you have, buying a beamer is the WORST thing you could possibly do. If anything goes wrong with it, expect quite the repair bill, and im pretty sure you'll get some issue within the next 20000 miles.

first, the average mileage that a person drives a year (per NADA) is 12-15k. So the mileage is pretty normal. I would be rather weary of buying that car for that cheap. Most likely they got in a wreck, had a friend who owns a body shop so they didnt claim it on their insurance, which means it will still have aclear title.
B) You want a pretty reliable car when you head off to school, and since you won't be working full time, per say, then you are going to need something that the insurance is pretty cheap on and gets fairly good gas mileage. What good is a nice car if you can't afford to drive it.

check these 2 out... not to bad for the price, and you could do some wheelin and dealin and get them a wee bit cheaper.

I haven't neccessarily made up my mind or anything, but I am getting close to it
I'm going to call the guy tomorrow and such, ask him all the vitals. Also, I'm going to call my parents insurence agency and get a quote, and I figured I'd give my Uncle a call, who has owned BMW's since the 80's. If they all check out, I think I may just head out those 100 miles and buy the beaut.
ps..hey Dapht..long time no see bud =)

Insurance will s***w you big time on a BMW at your age. Get a cheap honda/subaru/hyundai/kia/volkswagen anything economical. Cars are not cheap to maintain, save your money for going out, socializing, whatever and just get a decent cheap car for transport.

The Kelly Blue Book trade-in value is only $4,910. The Private Party Report has it at $6,775. Doesn't seem as good as a deal as it was at first, but that doesn't change much.
And the world is treatin me fine, Dapht =P I'll shoot ya a PM!
