Even MSPaint in XP and (probably 2k too?) can convert bmp to jpeg :p
If you still use 98 I guess you could google for ACDSee or something you can save as jpeg from that and it's not giant filesize

I recommend ACDsee, I can set up porn slideshows with one hand using it.
However, due to lazy, I use LViewPro (v1.c, yes, it's a few years old, but it works fine for me, no motivation to upgrade) for batch jpg compressions. Specifically changing all of my EQ screenshots from bmp to jpg, it takes about 30-45 seconds from starting the program to having all my screenshots as jpegs.

Sometimes.. paint is unable to convert on some machines. I'm not sure why exactly, but i've encountered paint versions with only .bmp functionality.

You can do it with win98 just fine.
Dont open the screenshot.
Open mspaint first, then file, then choose the screenshot.
THen choose "save as", and choose jpg.

I may be slightly stupid when it comes to computers but I'm not THAT stupid. It doesn't work with Paint ok?
For the slow readers:
It..... does.... not...... work..... with ..... Paint.... on..... my...... machine.....
I don't know the reason for it, whether it's just some setting or because I'm on windows 98, but I am smart enough to determine whether a program for whatever reason doesn't do what I want.
So stfu about paint you dildo's.
