I know a few people with the Treo 600/650 and they love it. The higher res screen on the 650 is nice. This will likely start some flame wars, but I'd stay away from any phones with a Microsoft OS.

don't get a phone pda. waste of money at the moment. i think the best ones out are the HP, but still stay away from moto MPx.
get a phone with a decent camera, and then get a nice pda like a palm. they aren't good enough to get both in one yet.
plus, mobile carriers internet access is outrageous. you'd want a wifi phone.

Carrying around 2 devices is so lame. Anything larger than a deck of cards is also lame.

my V635 can run 11 hours of mp3's. i have a 256mb transflash card with 5 cd's at 128kbs.
i can talk for 4 hours without a charge. most phones average 3-4 hour talk time. mp3's really take no power since its using the headset instead of a speaker.

I have been using a treo 650 lately and i really like it. I have a GB flash card in it so i can carry around a good amount of MP3s for it, store alot of video on it, as well as pictures. Also its nice to be able to put a ISO on it when i need to transport it
However, the Treo 650 still suffers some stability issues and the OS on it doesn't feel really solid. Sometimes, i will come to my phone and it will be frozen where its not communicating with network but doesn't tell you - the only way i know is the email on it is out of date. Goodlink email is the bomb heh, i like it alot better then blackberry's solution.
The problem tho, is i work in an environment where any disruption that causes me to be unavailable is completely unnacceptable so i use my treo 650 for personal use primarily also i jack the SIM out of it to put in my GPRS/EDGE card on my laptop, and have my blackberry 7290 to use for work/phone use. Its nice to be able to be out and about, have work call me needing help to work on a system, i can pull out laptop, use GPRS/EDGE card to establish VPN connection to work and work on the systems i need on the fly anytime. It only runs at 60kilibits (not kilobytes!) per sec so its somewhat slow but the utility is so nice.
I think in a couple years the PDA/Phone should be really reliable but right now, its more for a luxury and not for dependability.
