HP Pavilion 8860 desktop PC

1gig Athlon
128mb RAM

It's my aunts she got it at a pawn shop and she put winXP on it and now the onboard sound does not work.

I looked on the HP site but could not find it. Any help would be great.

I don't call tech support they are all idiots. f*****s treat everyone like they are dumb I've even corrected some before in the past.

Sound is really my low expertise level when it comes to a computer.

I could care less about sound I use onboard my self. I played EQ for 1 year and a half without sound.

I know when I reformatted I had to install the driver from my restore CD because I'm not using a s****y XP home OS.

So i'm not sure what universal sound driver you are talking about.

You could go into the device manager and see what chip it claims it's using for and audio device, then look for an XP driver for that.
