Heard the start of it on a commercial...old guy going bald, pony tail...wearing beach clothes...hops out of a van on the beach...plugs his guitar into an amp...then lets loose with a rolling riff...and some type of surfer yell.../shrugs...don't remember the commercial.
Then I heard it again in the CA: Full Throttle movie...when they were on the beach.
Looked up the soundtrack...it's not Surfer Girl by the Beach Boys. Don't think they list it, as it's just a riff. However, I think it came from their era.

d**k Dale is the guy's name I think. Popular surf guitar player.
"Miserlou" might be the name. If I had broadband I would check. I know the song you are thinking of though.

FYI, if you're looking for songs from movies, you might want to try the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com. They often have soundtrack listings, and I've found a lot of tracks this way.

Yup...but the pic of d**k Dale matches the guy in the Honda commercial, so it's got to be him.

Miserlou was in Pulp Fiction. It could be that or even though I haven't seen the commercial, d**k Dale did do a cover of aHondells song called "Little Honda" as well which would seem to be appropriate for a Honda Element.
