Am I going to need a high-end computer to play Age of Conan? I'm not exactly what you might call a hardware expert, but I assume that Age of Conan will not be as hardware-demanding as Windows Vista is? Because I've been told my computer is not "Vista-ready", and I don't know if this means I won't be able to play AoC...

It might mean that, but not necessarily. Age of Conan does not require the Vista OS, despite some rumors claiming the contrary. Here are the minimum system requirements:
- CPU: 2.4Ghz
- RAM: 2GB
- OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista
- Video Card: 512 MB DirectX 9.0c Graphics Card with Shader 3.0 support (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX or equivalent)
- DVD Drive
- 3GB free HD space
