I think it has the potential to work out well. It's like design your own armor/weapons rather than going to the bazaar and buying the latest overpriced drop somebody got while xping and took greedily for pp. Your hps are low? well then add some hp augments on for a boost. Got some bad resists? well then add some resist augments for your weaknesses. Now they can make like say a plate bp for plate classes that works for everyone. Give the bp 3 augments slots, say a type 1, type 2 and type 3. Now your warrior can add hps, ac and some atk. A cleric can take that same bp add hps, mana and a healing focus. Its the same bp just augmented in how that person wants it. Same goes for a weapon. Buy a basic sword thats for war, rng, rog and each class will make it slightly different. Warriors add and anger proc while the rangers/rogues may add a lifetap or dd proc. For once rather than complaining SOE made junky loot you look for a base product that has the augment slots you want and then make it your own thing

The problem I see is with the huge gap now between elemental and time armor augments, time armor will be in the range of 300hp per slot in some cases now while elemental is half that or less. I am hopign the elemental equiv in LDoN will have more then just the 1 augment slot....

So Khal, if you save up enough points you can buy something with, lets say, 170HP/mana from the merchants?

Oh yea, and when you say that adventures give out points, that the number you stated to each person, or it is split up evenly between people?

I never want on a Successful raid in the beta, but I believe the 200 Points is the share of the points you get, like the raid is worth 100k Split up among 36 people.
Raids should rightfully so be worth that much, they are HARD
The thing about saving up enough points for the 170 HP/Mana items is unfortunatley the hidden timesink in LDoN. You have to do so many adventures before you can even SEE the items worth like 4k points. You have to do 8k points worth of stuff Just to be able to buy the items with 4k.
Like take this for example. You win your first adventure, I get 51 Points, I open the merchant window I can only see the items worth up to 6 points. i win another I might be able to buy the items worth up to 20 points....and so on

Progress in SWG feels pretty slow to me. LDoN looks like what I miss from EQ. Too bad I hate single-boxing in EQ, and so 1 SWG account is still cheaper than 3 EQ ones.
Thanks for the write-up! I'm glad SOE keeps expanding the code base to handle new stuff like this.

I don't think you will be able to get up that high off a merchant but you never know. Top beta people may have had 800ish points in a theme and still didnt see stuff that would be in that ball park. There was stuff though that could easily get to the 100ish area.

Each person gets 50 in normal and 76 in hard no matter what the size of the group is.

I was in a group with 5 level 65, my monk is 63 ... they got 51ap ... I got 47ap on both adventures.
Only thing I am sick of is the we need the perfect group syndrome... my bot cleric gets lots of group invites and he isn't even LFG ... while my monk spends a while LFG before getting a group, tho when I did finally get a group we went 2 for 2 .

less than perfect groups win all the time. I've done ahrd with a shaman healing and no crowd control and that was in miraguls too. Then I've also done 2 rangers, rogue, cleric, druid and won with ease on normal. None of those are exactly perfect.

The funny thing is this

I checked the leaderboard last night and she was in the top 10 ROFLMAO

The leaderboard should be used by shrinks to identify people with real life issues and or adictive personalities.

leader board is totally stupid cause now every 10 mins someobdy sends me a tell asking me whats the good loot or how do you win so many or whatever. Seriously though why make it public other then to encourage competition.
Edit: I worded that kinda wrong. I dont mind honest questions but stuff like whats this cost or what items can you see and other off the wall stuff is getting spammed to me so I don't exactly like the leaderboard now. People that got my name off the guide ask intelligent questions in general which doesnt bother me but i may not answer quickly cause after all im in a raiding guild and often bot another character as well.

I really like it. It's intense. The only problem I have is that there is NO downtime at all.. I don't know about you but I really hate not being able to get up at all for fear of wasting precious time.. I was thinking about the caller quests in FG, something like that.. where they have rest periods built into the scripts. Or when you play multiplayer in SC you can pause the game for about a minute, and each person can only do it once or twice.. something like that..
It would have been cool to have an allowance for RL AFK, and to not trivialize the dungeon, make it have the effect of a DA almost, something where all your regens would stop and you would be unable to draw a weapon or cast any spell.
Oh well...

You can take plenty of breaks.. almost every single 'normal' level dungeon i've done has been finished with well over 15 minutes to spare.

Auto follow is your friend. Going afk in a group is easy if you time it right and do it responcibly.

I was gonna say the same thing as Frax. Unless your group can just barely handle the dungeon you should be able to afford a run to the bathroom or the refrigerator.

Well I was finding the dungeons challenging enough.. and what good is going on auto follow? It's not like you are worried about respawn.. it's like.. as a cleric if I go afk what good does it do me to auto follow? I can't auto-heal. If I'm the only healer they have to wait until I get back.. I can see this being a problem for someone who has a kid or something.
In my case it was only a run to take a p**s but I can see it being a problem for others.

besides, just because you are ahead of schedule doesnt mean you will win with time to spare. Winning with time to spare is only good for hindsight. Because you don't know what is coming next, if you will wipe or lose x number of members, being ahead of schedule is only an added buffer for the next series of pull, more room for error. Most groups dont like to waste this time.
