So I'm thinking of getting a PS2 and I'm wondering what games are so awesome I can't miss getting them...
so far I've thought of:
soul calibur 3
god of war
shadow of the collusus
we love katamari
final fantasy X
so anything you have to add or if you think any of these are shit (say why!) then post.
or also if you think it's more worthwhile getting an xbox for any games it has that ps2 doesn't have instead of a ps2 then say what games and say why they're worth not being able to play the ps2 only titles.

I did love Disgaea, but it sure as hell wasn't "must own". I mean its a great niche game. SRPG's aren't for everyone. There is a huge difference between Symphony of the Night and Disgaea, that's all I'm saying.

Well, fact remains, if you're going to d**k around with Disgaea you're going to want to keep it for a week, then a month and so on. It's a must-play game and, chances are, buying it (if it can even be found) is far more worthwhile than not.
And it's true that a lot of the fighting games I listed aren't your commonplace must-haves, but I've always been one to want a fighting game around. Just in case I feel like it. My poison is usally 2D.
