It's already got to be half-assed cramming of background to make the Symbiote show up.
My guess is that Sandman is going to be the Main villain, and the Hobgoblin shows up as a secondary, making dealing with the Sandman annoying.
In the background story, Eddie Brock will across the symbiote (probably found stuck to Jameson's son's ship, instead of dealing with the Secret Wars), and the full costume being exposed at the end. kind of like the way they did with Harry finding his dad's goblin stuff.
And probably also starting mentions of Dr.Connors experimenting with the lizard regeneration being applied to humans.
