This redneck is a scumbag. He'll probably go down as one of the worst presidents we've ever had. 4 years of shit, but at least he's gone Tuesday.
He had the lowest approval ratings of any President since polls began, and then his buddy's son blows up a couple of buildings and the Pentagon.
Now the FBI is investigating him. Classic.

Halliburton is the infamous defense company that liked to charge the taxpayers $80 for a toilet seat, etc. All while Cheney was CEO.

Most presidents inherit the economy of the last president's fiscal policy. (Of course since you are so damn intelligent you know this already)
Just think back to Van Buren, he was screwed by Andrew Jackson and given a panic which stayed through his whole term. (oh wait i thought good ol' dubya was the only one to run a defecit for 4 years, Oops!)

The issues involved in this dispute include:
1) That the contracts were for up to 5 years. Inappropriate since there was no certainty that Haliburton's services would be needed for that long and because the length of the contract removes the alleged time pressures cited by administration supporters as one of the main reasons for not seeking bids.
2) That Haliburton representatives were present at at least one meeting in which pentagon officials discussed the terms of the contract.
3) That the army may have retaliated against Bunnatine Greenhouse after she raised objections to the contract by giving ultimate authority over pentagon contracts to a subordinate. (Only a couple of the articles I have seen have dealt with this in passing, so I am not clear on the details.)

even though im not a supporter of president Bush, i believe they were no bid contracts becuase the only company that was able to handle/accept the job was Haliburton, so it doesnt really matter if Vice President Cheney was the former CEO of the company.
oh well im most likely wrong on this but i figured why not try and sound smart for a brief instance of my life.

Exactly. They were the only company that could do all the work themselves. It was the easiest solution logistically, and they've done a ton of defense department work in the passed, even under Clinton.
