Ok, so the modem that im using from comcast f*****g blows. random resets ( confirmed by comcast to be the modem but refusing to replace ), glitchy as shit at random.

im looking to buy my own. problem is i have no clue what to look for. i have a USR Wireless router atm. works great. just looking for a modem to replace the hunk of junk comcast gave me. prefer between the 50-100 dollar range but can be flexible if it is worth the extra cash.

thx in advance.

Unplug the cable from your modem and call them saying your service is down. They'll walk you through a bunch of b******t and then offer to send a tech out. get a Saturday appt and then every night until then call in reporting the same problem.

First thing the tech will do is swap out the modem.

Already had 2 techs out. first time i did just as you said above. Second time my daughter " accidently " spilled soda on the modem. Tech confirmed it was the modem the first time and said he didnt have another modem to give out ( i called and complained but it got me nowhere ) and the second time the tech gave me the same f*****g modem even though i told him the first one sucked ass and i didnt want it.

He told me it was that one or none cause these were the only ones he had. im willing to shell out some bucks for one at this point. tired of losing my damn connection.

my friends have charter, a few years ago, back in the eq years
connections would drop all the time, but they would give you a new modem
at the drop of a hat, if you went by the office
wouldn't really help anything, but atleast it was something

i have had verizon dsl for about 3 years now, a few months ago
it was time to reup for a full year or pay like $10 more a month
during that time they had several promos that would get you
new modems/routers or a wireless setup.
i called , wrote and everything else trying to get a new one, as mine is
old, but i got nothing.

i would have switched to cable, but i don't trust it here yet, my channels go snowy all the time

you can dig around here, http://www.dslreports.com/
(has stuff for all types of connections)
you can find reviews for your area to see if others have any problems
unless you are sure it is your modem
