Watch out though, your xbox360 recognises any change in hardware and bans your xboxlive account.

Naw, that's just a rumor that Microsoft wants to put in your head. They also want to tell you that your Xbox will explode after you mod it but they know you have enough common sense to know that's BS. That would be funny though. Microsoft implants a self destruct bomb that detonates as soon as you open up your 360. But seriously, only on certain mods such as rapid fire or maybe modchips can you get your xbox banned from live. Paint jobs, window cuttings, lights mods, and a bunch of other mods that don't affect gameplay are perfectly safe and I would know because I have some mods myself(mostly sold them all though).

Exactly why I would never do it
It's not worth it really
The only thing worth hacking is the PSP
which I have modded mine! Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad

Easy Way:
Go Buy something called x-port from best buy or something

lets you view / edit files on your xbox harddrive
