Ok so I've about had it with microsuck for reasons too long to list. But their latest thing of requiring SP1 *and* a registered copy is too much. I'm actually awaiting XP64 Pro to be released, at which time I'll prolly get a legit non-corp copy. But, if past OS releases are any indication, it'll be 199-250 bucks. f**k that. I'm considering Linux, although I dont know which flavor. I'm leaning towards Suse. Anyway. Anyone here running Linux (or Linux64) *and* using EQ2? I've read a little about WineX to run Win based games/software but wanted to see if anyone has used it. The only reason I'm on a win machine is for gaming....any suggestions?

In case youre interested, here's my hardware:
AMD 3500+ 90nm
MSI Neo Plat2 mobo
Mushkin Level II black, 1GB
SCSI 36GB x 3
SATA 180 10k RPM
BFG 6800 GT vid card

you have to understand I'm a network admin so I just use corp installs. Its not stealing, as we pay for group licences; however, M$ doesnt recognize corp install ID's for home use.

Anyway, I never said anything about EQ...I said EQ2 Smile

You should be able to run EQ2 using Cedega which is the new name for WineX ... you could dual boot for awhile and that way if you get a jones for playing something that only ends up running under Windows then you'll be alright Smile

You're allowed to download security fixes off windows update even if your cd key isn't legit.

I am a rabid FreeBSD/Linux guy... but Bait hit the nail on the head.
