Wasn't he the comedian who had his own sketch comedy show a while back? Man did he rip up the president. Who knew.

Can't fault a man for saying what's on everyone's mind.

Something to the effect of "We as documentarians appreciate non-fiction, and do not support ficticious elections who elect ficticious presidents to fight ficticious wars for ficticious reasons." Much longer and slanderous, but the whole academy was booing and he was going on and on, they tried to cut him off with music, but he kept going on. It was crazy.

He spoke his mind. And in doing so expressed opinions which seem to be held by a sizeable portion of the American population, although their media refuses to accept those opinions.

It is a shame that speaking ones mind is becoming so frowned upon in that forsaken country.

Yeah seriously, that took balls. For or against him, he exercised his right to free speech. I swear he had a comedy show at one point, didn't he?

Can we ship all these actors to France please? I swear by many of these nitwits I'm saving a hell of a lot of money by not going to the movies anymore.

Here is where we should refer Eduin to the post about the average level of education these actors receive in comparison to the accpomplishments of our country's leaders. (Even if Bush can be an idiot at times, he still did achieve presidency)

there is a difference in stating your opinion and stating facts. Moore can state his opinion all he wants but he attempts to state that his opinions are facts and everyone else is wrong. He had a tv series that tried to be satirical in nature but generally made him look like a buffoon as he espoused his liberal views.

close

It is illegal to belong to a group that uses FORCE to attempt to overthrow the goverment.

still doesn't mean we can't ridicule him for trying to bring about a type of goverment that has failed every chance it is given

since when is it illegal to register for a party? just because he is communist does NOT mean he is bent on the utter destruction of the US. it is not illegal to be a communist.

McCarthyism is accusing someone of being a communist, then later finding out that you were right. It's perfectly legitimate to expose peoples' hidden agendas to the public. Sorry, but if I know somebody endorses Cuba's regime over our own, I find it hard to take any of their political positions seriously. Knowing that he's a communist makes it obvious why he would oppose a war against a Stalinist dictator.

According to that, you can be jailed for belonging to a group that advocates force in overthrowing the government.

actually Saddam is a right wing totalitarian dictator. Stalin was a communist dictator. communism and totalitarianism are diametrically opposed. why do you think the 1939 non aggression pact between Stalin and Hitler didn't work?

now onto McCarthyism. no McCarthyism was an unneeded ultraright wing purge in our government of anyone who was even slightly liberal and who was not indoctrinated in the red scare. McCarthy exagerated statistics, used false evidence and basically got himself in alot of trouble when the red scare was over. his witchhunt was in no way right. sorry.

No, Saddam is not a communist, but he models his hardline regime on Stalin (read this: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/saddam/interviews/aburish.html), undoubtedly a respectable figure in Michael Moore's mind. Hence, his sympathies.

As for Mcarthyism, it began well enough, but was unfortunately allowed to get out of hand. Today, it would be akin to pointing out the pro-Al Queda muslims in our society (and subsequently pointing out all muslims, in the potentially unfortunate scenario), which is something only extremists would oppose. So I'm sorry, but Mcarthyism was not bad. Every generation has its enemies, and there is nothing wrong with pointing them out, especially when they're as insidious as ours.

Edit: Wouldn't it have been nice if somebody had pointed out that muslim seargent who threw three grenades into our soldiers' tents, yesterday?

Yea he spoke his mind... but there is a time and a place for speaking those thoughts... He won an award... They didnt ask his views on shit, It wasnt a news conferance, it wasnt anything but an awards show, If people wanted to hear shit about the war and gave a rats ass if this fool thought it was right or wrong they would have tuned into a different station.

I thought it was funny tho, his dumb ass was all happy and everyone booed him off stage.

People dont seem to get whats happening, yes, you can have your own thoughts and beliefs, but as a whole you should try and back your nation, EVERYONE knows saddam hussein sucked ass and should not be leader. You make enough f**k ups like he has and eventually you will be brought down, so f**k him as well. Realize, YOU WILL NEVER HAVE WORLD PEACE. Its not gonna happen, open your eyes and realize this. For that matter, f**k it, I think all the generically good nations (you know, those that dont gas their own citizens and torture and maim and all, geez what fun) should go around and lay some ass-kicking fun upon those shithole nations and make them into something worthwhile.

I know someone will pipe up with some non-war BS, and sure, you have that right, BECAUSE you live in a great nation. Funny thing is I am not an intensley patriotic person, but I also know If I lived most anywhere else in this shithole of a planet that there is a damn fine chance I couldnt sit here and type this today.

But I realize no matter how much you say, or what you can prove, or how much pain you inflict on a person, you just cant change some peoples views, I respect that. So please go through my post and nit-pick it apart and take some quotes and all that dumb shit. Because EVERYONE CAN BE RIGHT ON THE INTERNET!

Bye, huggles and kisses you crazy f***s!

That doesn't say anything about bush not being an idiot. It says something about most of the US being idiots too. Either stupid enough to vote for Bush, or too stupid to vote.

Don't look at me, I voted libertarian.
