What do the diffrent types of melee do diffrently?
Unarmed
2-h
1-h
pole
Is it a dammage thing? Speed? Attack diffrent pools?

From what I can see:
Unarmed special moves are Health damage
2 handed sword moves are Mind
Polearm are Action
... dunno about the rest, sorry.
That's why rifleman / 2HS is a nice combo!

Thanks Dunn.
I was trying to find a combo that would cripple so that with burst speed a ranged attacker could keep foes at arms length.
So it sounds like a Carbiner and Pole Arms would do.
Should be playing soon =)

dunn dont know wtf he talkin bout
its damage speed mostly
unarmed are the fast spam damage, i know 2h and polearm are both slower, with higher numbers
from what ive seen unarmed with vibro knucks is the highest damage overall, with lots of nice special moves
especially unarmed knockdown....after i knock somethin down, i get 12 unanswered blows(2500ish dmg)..and before thats done i just knock em down again.....so i never get hit =)

How do you counter being knocked down?
I see a bunch of knock down attacks but I'm curiouse if there is an avoid skill or something.

banz, lemme give you some advice.
pure melle is not like eq.
this game isnt balanced around class vs class, cause there is no pure melle class to balance against.
Not being good with a ranged weapon is stupid, so make sure you get some.

Seconded, it's like the devs trying to balance a Carbineer and an Architect in melee =P

Not so fast... there is to some degree a balance between melee and ranged. For one, a moving target gives you penalties to hit (usually pretty severe). and as far as I know only pistoleer can handle themselves in close combat with a ranged weapon (pistol whip is the shit). Granted a high skill can counter some of these drawbacks, but not completely. BH's still miss enemies that are right on them but Teras Kasi are viscious when they get to you. That's as far as PvP goes.
PvE is similar, but most mobs don't run off until they are injured, and if you can't stick to a mob... you are just in need of help all around.
