man im glad i caught a matinee.... cause 3 extra dollars being paid for this pile of 4 year hyped shit would have sent me home hungry (thx mcdonalds)
a few things that bugged me...
Morpheous' little speach... plz to not be making close ups of a bald, thrice gapped grill, shouting like a lil b***h not sounding like the morpheous from the first one, lawrence fishburn... unless yer making a sequal to "whats love got to do with it"...
the rave/love scene... the only way i would want to see this horrifyingly drawn out excuse to show a jiggling titty... would be on the f*****g dvds deleted scenes feature...
i heard lots of hype about a fight scene that will blow minds and revolutionalize movies today.... gotta tell you.. i couldnt pick it out in a line up of that movie... and not a one of them could compare to the morpheous/neo fight in the first one =P
action scenes.... the road chase looked pretty damn good.. this is all im going to give the movie in this department.... cause other than that... the trench coat mafia scene where they shread those f*****s in the lobby in the first one... owns this movies action in a whole
Agent Nolonger Agent Smith.... he was cool..i like the whole "you freed me" thing... but the cloning.. gimme a f*****g break thats to many people saying mr. anderson...
Smiths fight scene entrance... hello lets rip off john woos trademark, but isntead of doves.. we will use ravens... or crows... what ever the f**k those cgi birds were sposed to be....
yanno what... f**k it... this post became to long at "3 extra bucks"...
the only scene i liked was neo and the architech... its the only thing that shedded light on the matrix story...
and those albino dread lock twins... they were kinda cool....
p.s. the more keanu's character learns.. the worse his acting gets... thx goodnite

Good action, terribly written.
I still think it would have been a far better idea for them to have hired a more attractive female to play the role of trinity in both the movies =\ |
For once I must say, I couldn't agree with you more Beels. Monica Belucci (Persephone) needed a nudity scene and a bigger role

Yeah the movie coulda done without Morpheus' Speech.
The first lines he spoke in the movie were weird too, I coulda sworn he was imitating Mr Andersons accent thingy.
Lot of things were kinda *loose* threads in the movie but maybe they'll get worked out better in 3. I mean why did Neo have to kiss Ms. Persephone, was kinda weird. And that whole love triangle thing between Lock - Niobe - Morpheus was kinda pointless as well.
Action was good but sometimes a little too long.
I did love the part with the 167401479 agents Smith. Especially the part where Neo flew away and they were all like: "oh".

Very good movie..a little too much...maybe lol but still.
Well except for the 2 morons back of us...
During the scene with the 167401479 agents Smith...the guy back of us just couldnt hold the comment :
Him : OMG I so want to be able to do that!!!
His friend : Yeah!
And during the **** scene he again couldnt hold his mouth:
Him : OMG I so want to f**k her!!! Shes so nice!
His friend :Yeah!
Was like that during all the movie...

Yes. It stars..the American Psycho guy (can't remember his name) , Taye Diggs and Emma Watson (the blind girl from Red Dragon).
Really, it's a pretty good movie and I liked the storyline.
As I said I did like the Matrix, but there were a few parts that bugged me. Did anyone else think they used the totally wrong music for the background to the 2394876239 Smith's battle? And the rave scene I could have done without. I didn't hate the ending..I didn't hate the "to be continued" endings with LoTR either. I figure I would rather have a great story told over the course of 3 movies than a great story all chopped to hell for the sake of fitting it into 2 hours. (Ever see the David Lynch version of Dune after having seen the 6hour version done on the Sci Fi channel? If so, you know what I mean.) The question is..is the story that great to begin with? The jury's still out for me, but I like it so far.

Okay, far enough.
1. The ending, when Neo has to choose the doors. The one door leads to the salvation of Zion, but what this means is that the entire cycle starts over, for the 7th time. The Oracle is actually a program trying to get this to occur, because she created the Matrix, and thus "tricked" Morpheus into finding Neo, so he could start the whole thing over because Zion was about to be annihilated by the machines again. Most of the theatre I was in DIDN'T understand this part.
2. The rave you guys hate so much. They wanted to show that the people weren't afraid.
3. The love scene was necessary, they had been building up to in both movies. Yeah, Trin is kinda homely, and they tend to linger on Keanu's ass, but it was a necessary scene in my opinion.
4. The last 4 and a half seconds. Why does everyone hate this? The guy Agent Smith "infected" with himself is now back in the "Real World" and is causing problems for the fleshies. He annihilated part of a Battle Group and was the only survivor. They captured him and he's unconcious like Neo is. What is the damn problem?
5. Monica Belluci's scene. She's p****d cuz her man was getting blown by the blonde, so she set the Keymaker free.

I don't get how Neo was able to destroy that sentinal when he was supposedly in the real world. Is the real world (including Zion) part of the Matrix as well? That part confused me.

thats what i was thinking. that they never left the matrix but just went through another door without realizing it.
i have to say i was really disappointed with this movie. it was such a huge letdown after watching the trailers. some of the footage in the matrix reloaded trailers never showed up intil the preview for third matrix.
i did kind of like the last 20 minutes or so with the architect. that and finding out the oracle wasnt human was pretty neat. i may have liked it more if there was some more storyline to it other than mostly action the whole way

The Oracle is DIFFIDENTLY a rogue program.. But I don't think she's the "mother" of the Matrix that the Architect was talking about. When Neo says "The Oracle?" (obvious answer) the Architect responds "Please.." and continues talking.
As for the doors.. Yes, the right door would have "Reloaded" the Matrix and started the cycle over a 6th time, but Neo took the left door.. which was the complete destruction of the human race.

There is more to the Persephone/Neo kiss scene than I think alot of people realize.
I think (And I could be wrong) that Persephone is the "mother" of the Matrix. Her dialogue leads you to believe that she's been around an extremely long time.. Plus "the mother" of the Matrix was a program designed to explore the human psyche.. I think that sums up Persephone quite well.
She knew what would happen when she gave up the Key maker.. She's done it 5 times before with the other "Ones" .. She saw something different In Neo.. Love.. The kiss was to confirm this.. and to basically find out what door Neo would choose.

The thing i don't understand is the reasoning behind why the machines would allow Zion to be rebuilt 5 times. Why not just destroy every human who isn't a battery, and be done with it?

No, I think the one he took was the "reload" one. Neo did the predictable thing and went after Trinity, even though the Architect told him she would die either way....notice how all of the previous Neo's on the screens behind him went the same way he did? The other door was to the Matrix mainframe where Neo could have taken down the Matrix. The Architect said that would result in the destruction of the human race, but Neo told him he was bluffing.
| Quote: | | The thing i don't understand is the reasoning behind why the machines would allow Zion to be rebuilt 5 times. Why not just destroy every human who isn't a battery, and be done with it? |
If you remember they talk about the original Matrix being "perfect". It failed because the humans would not accept the program, apparently because they had no choices. The subsequent Matrices allowed some choices, which made the humans accept the program, but a side effect was the formation of Zion, by the people who chose (I guess) not to be entered in the Matrix.
The movie was awesome. I wasn't crazy about the rave/**** scene, but I think it was an attempt to symbolize carnal humanity as a sharp contrast to the world inside the matrix. If you notice, in the matrix everyone is dressed perfectly, not a hair out of place, black and white clothes, sunglasses, etc. In zion everybody is wearing filthy rags and pretty much look like hobos. It all creates a nice contrast between the machine-created world and real people.
The action of course was top-notch. The freeway scene got all the press, and it was great, but my favorite part was the 1 million agent smiths fight. About the time I started to get bored with it he whipped out that traffic sign and started kicking ass with it. Awesome. Everybody in the theater laughed when Neo flew away, and so did I. Not so much because it was funny as because that was the first chance we had gotten to take a breath in 10 minutes. Some people think it was too long, but I found it pretty exhilirating.
The plot was a little confusing, but I didn't have any trouble following it. The annoying kid in Zion apparently has a part in the next movie, since he was pretty pointless in this one. I thought the Niobe love triangle was pointless also, but maybe it will play a bigger part in the next movie. I didn't understand now Neo stopped the octopus robots but I imagine it will be explained in the next movie.
The french dude, his wife, the key maker, and the albino dudes were all great.
Movie gets two thumbs up from me. Definitely gonna see it in the IMAX now.
Didn't put a spoiler warning on this post because if you've read this far you've seen 100 spoilers already. Somebody needs to add "CHOCK FULL O' SPOILERS" to the subject. If I had read this thread before I saw the movie I would have been p****d.

No.. here.. This may help.
| Quote: |
--snip--
The Architect - The function of the One is now to return to the source, allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the prime program. After which you will be required to select from the matrix 23 individuals, 16 female, 7 male, to rebuild Zion. Failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix, which coupled with the extermination of Zion will ultimately result in the extinction of the entire human race.
Neo - You won't let it happen, you cant. You need human beings to survive.
The Architect - There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept. However, the relevant issue is whether or not you are ready to accept the responsibility for the death of every human being in this world.
*The Architect presses a button on a pen that he is holding, and images of people from all over the matrix appear on the monitors*
The Architect - It is interesting reading your reactions. Your five predecessors were by design based on a similar predication, a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound attachment to the rest of your species, facilitating the function of the one. While the others experienced this in a very general way, your experience is far more specific. Vis-a-vis, love.
*Images of Trinity fighting the agent from Neos dream appear on the monitors*
Neo - Trinity.
The Architect - Apropos, she entered the matrix to save your life at the cost of her own.
Neo - No!
The Architect - Which brings us at last to the moment of truth, wherein the fundamental flaw is ultimately expressed, and the anomaly revealed as both beginning, and end. There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the source, and the salvation of Zion. The door to the left leads back to the matrix, to her, and to the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know what you're going to do, don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction, the chemical precursors that signal the onset of emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic, and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you from the simple, and obvious truth: she is going to die, and there is nothing that you can do to stop it.
*Neo walks to the door on his left*

I also forgot to add, I don't think the Neo's on the screens behind him where the previous "The Ones". We learned in the first Matrix that the Matrix is 100 years old.. We learn in the 2nd movie that the matrix has been "reloaded" 5 other times .. We are looking at around 600 years here. No human lives that long, even with machines keeping them alive.
The room with the Architect was all about choices. The screens in the room represented Neo's possible choices/reactions.
Notice that when all the Neo's on the screen start talking the camera sorta zooms/blends with the last screen .. Neo back in the room.. speaks.. the choice he selected.

Ok I was a little confused about what his choices are, but you're obviously cheating if you're reading some website with the whole text of the movie on it :p.

Maybe, but why did the all do the same thing that he did when he went for the door? Do you think they just represented a realtime display of all the things going through his mind at the time?
I wasn't suggesting that it was just him repeating history over and over, but I thought that the screens represented the reactions of previous "Ones" to this same conversation. Maybe you're right though, there were certainly more than 5 reactions to some of them.
I won't be able to decide if I agree with you without seeing the scene a few more times.

Good question. I don't know. It could either be like you said, a real-time representation of Neo's thoughts/choices going though his mind at the time. Or it could be the Architect/Matrix extrapolating Neo's possible choices.
Either way, Both Neo and the Architect knew at the time there was only ONE choice in his mind.. Love.. Save Trinity.. I think that's why all the screens where the same. The Architect even said it himself.

Some people may think the movie sucks.. but in my mind it was a success.. If anything else, in my mind, the most important thing in a good movie is "does it make the viewer think?" .. Yes

People wondering about how Neo killed the sentinels after he was back in 'The Real'.
Two options IMO
(A) Like someone said, Zion is actually another Matrix, so the original Matrix is a Matrix within a Matrix. The Architect says that only 99% of people accept the original Matrix. Perhaps Zion is the overflow Matrix for the people who reject the original Matrix. Who would think to try and 'wake up' twice?
OR
(B) Neo links with the machines somehow during his time with the Architect, or perhaps because of his link with Agent Smith, so he has some limited control over the machines.

Anyone have the Matrix and X2 hosted for DL? I would spend the money for the movie and go out but between work and the woman I can't get out to see it and would definitly like to. PM me please if you have a copy.

I think the real world is actuly the real world... In the preview for the next one you get the general sense that Smith is some how controlling part of the matrix now becaouse neo has to kill him to save every one. Also yo see him fighting with the infected guy IRL. You hear the oracle saying alot, so I think shes a good guy but still unshure if she is the "mother"
About the Archetect. I think that when he was talking about neo alread making the choice he thought neo would pick the door to reload the matrix as robots need the humans to mantain their standard of living. sh it ho le raid wants me to pull now... so ill ramble later on this
