The US will take over the moon.

So let it be written.

So let it be done.

ROFL, his father also gave the same promise.

It's called campaigning.

No one thought he would crush 2 countries in less than 2 years either.

I guess we will have to see, won't we.

But one things is certian, its going to happen sooner or later. The US will have a base on the moon, I'm betting on sooner. (within 20 years)

Why wouldn't anyone believe this was possible? You'd have to be an idiot naysayer with no sense of human accomplishment to do so.

We'll do it eventually, but it's many, many years away. And George Bush, or pretty much every other present politician for that matter, will have little to do with it.

Unmanned spaceflight is the future now. Hell, look what happened to the space shuttle program.

edit: oh, and please tell me what good sending man to the moon did. The costs far outstripped the rewards, and that's why we haven't been back in 30 years.

let me paraphrase: "Please tell me what good the vacuum tube did? The costs far outstripped the rewards."

that may be a slightly poor analogy, but i'm sure the alert readers of realpoor can come up with a better one if you require. either way, it's called a stepping stone, d*****s. a path to greater technological achievement and scientific discovery. we aren't going to go directly from what we have now to a full colonization of another planet if we don't invest heavily in space exploration.

As with so many other subjects, he is on the wrong side of this one too.

The technological advances they made gearing up for the moon shots surround you. You are just to thick to acknowledge them.

And you wonder why we, the ones looking at you from the other side of these subjects, think you are stupid.

I have to agree with Faerdal on this. I guess even Kbarr, surprise surprise.

The research we've done thus far in space exploration has taken us light years (no pun intended) in technological advances. Also, I totally agree with Faerdal that at this point in order to see the large achievement in space exploration that we're looking for we really need to invest some time and effort into it. I'm sure billions of dollars already go into it, but it needs more public attention and support. While I'd agree that this proposal is a nice "stepping stone" as Faerdal put it, I guess the guys that actually know about this shit don't agree... It might be wiser to listen to them, put the money intro robots or some shit. Who knows though, maybe they're wrong... either way any large public investment in space technology will be a step in the right direction for the U.S. and Earth as a whole... once we do some shit, so's everyone else. God bless America.

The sneakers you sold, behind mom and dads back, are a direct result of advances made through the Mercury/Apollo programs.

Mom and dad fully approved. Dad even went in on it and bought his own pair, made himself a few hundred. How's that for technology?

It's amazing how ANYBODY could say a trip to the moon was a waste. You have to be completely out of touch with reality and humanity to underestimate the magnitude of such an accomplishment. It was one of the high points in all of human history.

Dont matter who owns it either, all that matters is who lands first to esploit the natural resources.

The usa will already be mining shit in space.
The rest of you chumps can starve.
