Bush says Iraq is safer now that Hussein has been overthrown. This article kinda disputes that claim.

It's a litlle late in the election year for this to come out, but I thought it was important.

You mean the country where nobody but the incumbant was able to travel to campaign for fear of violence, polling place security was provided by the warlords who told people how to vote, and the incumbant won easily with the next closest challenger getting only 16% of the vote?

There was no incumbant...moron.
And yes, I'm referring to the place that despite threats of violence, people waited upwards of 8 hours in line to cast their votes. The country that despite a militant islamic presence only saw one act of violence on election day. THAT country...b***h. Bush wins.

Would you live in iraq with Saddam in power?
Idiots, you don't even understand what you're arguing about anymore, as long as it's anti bush you're fine with it.
Jesus f*****g christ, I wish i could send your asses to iraq under saddam, just to watch you and your entire families get murdered because of your ignorance.
You little pansies hide behind the rights you are given by living in america, but you have no idea what it's like not to have those rights. You'd shit on yourself the first time you didn't get everything handed to you in a foreign country. Spoiled little candy asses, get out of my country, you disgrace the people who fought and died for it, and you don't deserve to be here until you learn to apprciate what it is you have.

Iraq did not need a new government. Bush did not genuinly give a f**k about the people in Iraq, and honestly noone else did either. It is not the USA's job to go around overthrowing other people's governments and trying to make people conform to their system of choice. Muslim people would much rather live under Sadaam than see their daughter in a mini skirt, simple as that. They live based on religious values that they have held for over 2000 years. There were different ways to foil Sadaam's plan of building newer weapons. Assuming the responsibility of ANOTHER country when your own economy is not strong is not the solution. Yes I am a Kerry supporter, but I'd criticize Kerry if he was in Bush's position and went into Iraq with a b******t war.

No they don't. I guess voting NO for it later on cancels out the previous YES? I don't know, still trying to figure out that logic.

Bah, Kerry was very clear when in his speech at the time he voted to authorize the president to go to war in Iraq (not to "go to war"). He said that he was voting for it specifically because it was necessary for the US to present a united front when confronted with a serious threat, but he laid down several conditions that needed to be met before we would actually go to war. The president took the authority but ignored the conditions.

What were these conditions? Let Saddam p**s all over the peace treaty he signed while simultaneously laughing his ass off for 10 more years? He didn't gas enough Kurds just yet? He doesn't have enough under-the-table oil deals with European countries despite UN sanctions? Blow off some more weapons inspectors? Didn't quite spend enough money rewarding the families of Palestinian suicide bombers for a job well done?

"[W]ithout question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his contin ued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..."

I mean, he sounded pretty resolute to me, about Iraq and all.

from the same speech:
| Quote: | As I have said frequently and repeat here today, the United States should never go to war because it wants to, the United States should go to war because we have to. And we don't have to until we have exhausted the remedies available, built legitimacy and earned the consent of the American people, absent, of course, an imminent threat requiring urgent action.
The Administration must pass this test. I believe they must take the time to do the hard work of diplomacy. They must do a better job of making their case to the American people and to the world. |
And from the speech on the Senate floor in Oct 2002 where he actually "voted for the war":
| Quote: | Let there be no doubt or confusion about where we stand on this. I will support a multilateral effort to disarm him by force, if we ever exhaust those other options, as the President has promised, but I will not support a unilateral U.S. war against Iraq unless that threat is imminent and the multilateral effort has not proven possible under any circumstances.
In voting to grant the President the authority, I am not giving him carte blanche to run roughshod over every country that poses or may pose some kind of potential threat to the United States. Every nation has the right to act preemptively, if it faces an imminent and grave threat, for its self-defense under the standards of law. The threat we face today with Iraq does not meet that test yet. I emphasize "yet." Yes, it is grave because of the deadliness of Saddam Hussein's arsenal and the very high probability that he might use these weapons one day if not disarmed. But it is not imminent, and no one in the CIA, no intelligence briefing we have had suggests it is imminent. None of our intelligence reports suggest that he is about to launch an attack. |

Everyone acts like Kerry fronted that war because he supported Bush and gave him authorization to go in and find the WMD.
Thats backing up your president when the times are tough...thats just what you do.
Kerry wouldnt have invaded Iraq though, and at Tora Bora when Bin Laden was wounded and pinned down, he would not escape to talk shit later, as is the case with Bush.
Bin Laden would not have escaped because all our resources could be focused and making sure Bin laden was contained and then neutralized.
Bush failed...no egg on Kerrys face for Bush's failings.
Meanwhile Saddam would continue to weaken as was the trend...
Thats the probable result of what would have happened if Kerry were calling the shots.
There is no arguing that Bush failed...everything now is just damage control
