I have 4400 and I think it's a stupidly large amount, it would take me a full month of non-stop play during awake hours and pause during sleeping hours to listen to every song on it. Too much variation for my liking, I just happen to have them all from random directory grabbing at LAN parties.

I only have 582 on this computer (work PC) but I easily have 4 times that at home. Course, that number increases daily since I generally setup a stream ripper at home on some interesting internet radio station and suck down the MP3's.
Soon as I get a good variety (and at least enough for two days play time) per genre that I give a damn a bout, I'll be setting up " Easy Rob Radio, home of sleeze and slack" using a shoutcast server (unless I can find something better before that time arises)
I though about having some programmed time for certain other things like interviews or very specified selections like "The Gamers Hour" or something that plays theme music from games.
Just an idea.

I probably have like 6,000 now.
I've been collecting them since Napster and old school Scour.

I had around 5500 at one point thanks to a blazing connection at school and plenty of time but now I'm back down to around 1500.

I keep it around 500.
I download and delete all the time, there are actually few very good songs I won't get tired of eventually.

I had almost 5000 at one point, but thanks to my exfiance I lost all of those. I am back up to around 1k now. It really p****d me off cause I had some of those hard to find gems that you just can't come by very much anymore.
Oh well the collection will get there again. It will just take a few nights of hard core downloading.

Really depends on the station I rip them off of. If I sit on a good quality station using winamp, they are pretty good. A few come through poorly because they are recorded poorly, but this thing pulls the stream data coming and directly writes it while it passes it through to Winamp. Also gets all the ID3 information. Very nice piece of work it is.
Soon as I get another box setup to dedicate to the station (so it doesn't interupt my SWG time) then I'll be putting up the radio station. Hell, if I really wanted to I could just setup the ripper in on instance of winamp and then output the files from a directory so that I have a constant stream running, throw in a few extra files for a buffer and viola! But I won't do that, I want to have the files. Trying to design the lineup though, what times to play what genre. Any ideas guys?
