in life after love? Just kidding.
Do you believe it's possible to make an ugly race (troll, orc, ogre) with "pretty enough" females that would attract actual female players?

I don't think race matters much to women for playing... I would put more on the class mattering. Look at EQ:
Ranger/Druid - Happy little forest nymph
Cleric - Wants to feel needed
Rogue - Backstabber
Enchanter - Controlling psycho
That makes up 90% of the females in EQ if not more.

Dude! Do you know why no women play Horde on WoW? Because there are no hot horde females. There's 1 female troll setup that is passable but... eew.

The class, I dunno. In EQ, women didn't play trolls and ogres even though those made great SK's, tanks, shamen. Instead they played the pretty (elf, human, huge black tits-Luclin Erudite) or the cute, for instance halfling/gnome.

Most of the video gaming females tend to play the "cute" characters over the "hot" ones. Make an evil female character model that looks like a hamster and the women will flock to your game.

I picked a barb shaman because when I got the game a friend said that was a great combination. I didnt know any better, but well I am tall and blonde irl, so it kinda fit and I finally got used to having to loot my corpse nekkid while a bunch of guys made wisecracks.
In WoW I loved being a female tauren. I thought they were pretty cute, not in a gnome kinda way but better. I thought the female orcs and trolls had a little **** thang going for them.
The EQ trolls and ogres were just too damn big and over the line gross.

I have like 10 characters on WOW. ALL of them are alliance. I tried playing a horde on several occasions but just cant be that f****n ugly. I made an orc, undead and a cow but only played them to like 10-15'ish.
Seriously, no real woman wants to play a character that ugly. Grunting and farting and lumbering around humped over was only entertaining for a week or so.
I also refuse to play a human, but dont really know why I guess its just soo boring and common.
Whatever it is your making, please for the love of God have more than 4 damn races to choose from. Nothing worse than running around looking like someone else. Yuk.

Okami teh hawt DE.
Ok, so let me think of the rl female EQ players i know of:
DE SK
gnome cleric (she was hot irl too)
halfling cleric x3
psycho multiclass (this one was my stalker, she made a new character every week to ask me for stuff/PLs, last I heard she killed herself because I wouldn't tell her I loved her.)
wood elf druid (not me, har.)
half elf druid (hated the assless pants)
high elf cleric xlots (most of them are psychos)
human druid
erudite SK
erudite cleric
iksar monk
I can't think of any enchanters of any race that were RL females though.

haha brael.. and its true, too.
yes to the original question, and I think that a race being too ugly would be a factor for certain women, but I dont think ultimately that the appearance of certain races are the driving factor behind lack of female interest in mmorpgs..

<---erudite wizzie
I chose it because when I first read the synopsis of each race way back, it said that the wizards were the most powerful of all the casters...I wanted to do BIG DAMAGE! ..and erudites were the most intelligent of the races...well I wanted to be smart AND do BIG DAMAGE! LOL
However, I would not have chosen an "ugly" race even if one were available...after all, it is a fantasy game :p
Little did I know that people wouldn't really want a wizard in their group through all the mid-levels:( In the "high-end" though, wizards are a bit more welcome!
