Lineage 2 Hawkeye or Gladiator?

I used to play a Gladiator character but I realized after some time that it really sucks in pvp. So I decided to switch to Hawkeye and I must admit that I liked it a whole lot better. At least until yesterday when I got seriously beaten by a friend’s gladiator in arena. So now I’m wondering whether I was wrong about the gladiator. What do you think which one is better?

Gladiators usually get such remarks like ‘suck’ when it comes to pvp. But that’s just because most of the people do not have the patience to wait until they get to a really high level like 70 and above. Then the Gladiators become really powerful. Anyway, Hawkeyes are good when it comes to group fights. But they are almost always the first ones to get attacked and Gladiators are usually the last ones. So I’d go for Gladiator.
