Lineage2 or Guild Wars?

I need some help. Next week its my boyfriends birthday and Im going to buy him a game, because hes a game freak. But since Im not a gamer I dont know how to decide which one. There are two options: Guild Wars or Lineage2. Which one is better and if you could explain a bit your opinion? Thanks a lot!

For example, what kind of games your boyfriend is into, but it seems to me that the only way to find that out is to ask him and then youd spoil the surprise. But lets try nevertheless. Both these games are of MMORPG genre, and that means they are played online with other participants. Lineage2 is a sequel to Lineage and try to see among his games whether he has the first part, because theres no use in buying him the second part. Another thing, for Guild Wars there is no monthly fee while for Lineage series you have to pay $15 per month.
