A reptile/amphibian dealer in my town has 2 pairs of young adult Leachianus geckos. These geckos are amazing, extremely beautiful. They have been raised by a professional and are in awesome health. He's selling each breeding pair for 325. I've seen these geckos go for $1,000 each online..
I currently have an adult male veiled cham and a 2.5 month old female veiled cham in seperate 34inch tall terraniums. I'm really thinking about buying a pair of these geckos in a few weeks and I'm going to start setting up the terranium in a few days.
Does anybody have any experience with these geckos, or any giant gecko breeds for that matter? My goals are to just raise them for now and hopefully breed them in the future.
thanks

I have friends with tokei? gekkos. They have 2 in an aquarium type thing. They seem happy as long as they get some light, some heat, some crickets, and some mist every now and then.
They are very very cool looking. I could watch them for hours.

What island, what color morph, where did he buy the parents, are they crosses?
All this matters a lot.
If you are going for a pet, it doesn't matter that much. If you want to breed them, you should know this stuff to get the big bucks for offspring. Maybe the reason he is selling them so cheap is one, hes a pal, 2 he has crappy bloodlines.
I plan on getting a bunch, atm im trying to figure out exactly what island morph I want and who I want to buy them from.

They're actually Halmahera geckos from....Halmahera. They are not crosses, and he's raised them since they were hatchlings. They're dark brown and look exactly like dark tree bark, amazing eyes that remind me of wooden diamonds or something, really awesome looking.
I'm guessing they have a much much lower price tag then the gecko I missunderstood them to be, they still look amazing to me and are around 8" long.
You know anything about these?

Now that I'm looking at it, there is a huge price difference between Leachies and Halmaheras...I'm think I'm still going to go for the halmaheras because, to me, they both look great.

cheaper
I know nothing about them. Odds are they are nasty and hard to handle.
The Rhacodactylus leachianus are slow as sloths, feel like tooled leather and don't bite. They also can reach 18 inches I have read. Very expensive too.

I checked out the geckos today. I handled the Halmahera's and they were completely dosile. He said a breeding pair is 250. I'll probably get these in a few weeks.
