Battery stuff:
- don't run the batteries down to zero. They're not Nicads anymore, and doing that just hurts them, if it causes one of the cells to reverse bias.

- Don't run it off batteries just for the hell of it - every charge/discharge cycle shortens their life a little.

- After one year you will want a new set of batteries, after two years you'll absolutely need a new set.

i never even put in the battery unless i'm traveling. its better that way, lightens up the weight and saves battery life at the same time.

get a good warranty cause laptops have the tendancy to break easy and expensive to fix.

get an anti-theft program incase it gets stolen, they have one on www.thinkgeek.com for 20bucks and it is worth it I would have to say.

Batteries don't last for shit.

If you actually plan on using the battery regularly, get a warranty that covers batteries or buy an extra battery (usually both options are similar in price).

actually if your concerned about battery life or battery issues..going dead etc..
better make sure that you have a program for your processor, called speed step or some shit
it basically slows down your processor when the performance is really not needed, extends battery life
when friend got his laptop a couple months back he didn't and still doesn't have the program =\
