Ok, I have no idea what to look for. On my desktop, I use Plextor, which I'm very very happy with. Problem is they don't make Laptop based DVD burners. The s****y "dual layer" burner that came with this laptop is constantly causing errors, and any non-computer can't play the DVD's at all because they freeze up constantly. So... I want to swap it out with something else. Any idea what I should get?
Thanks ^

plextor does make laptop dvd burners... the problem with laptop burners is that the bracket is manufactuer dependant so you can't really just go out and pickup a laptop dvd burner- you need to get it through your computer's manufacturer, unless you want an external drive.
if your system is under warranty, you should be able to call up your manufacturer and have the part replaced if it's burning lots of bad disks. otherwise, call up your manufacturer and ask them what other brands/models of DVD burners they have for your system.
