Ummm...just to be on the safe side...LET'S NOT TRY THAT AGAIN, OKAY???
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4357613.stm
| Quote: | A fireball created in a US particle accelerator has the characteristics of a black hole, a physicist has said.
It was generated at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in New York, US, which smashes beams of gold nuclei together at near light speeds.
Horatiu Nastase says his calculations show that the core of the fireball has a striking similarity to a black hole.
His work has been published on the pre-print website arxiv.org and is reported in New Scientist magazine.
When the gold nuclei smash into each other they are broken down into particles called quarks and gluons.
These form a ball of plasma about 300 times hotter than the surface of the Sun. This fireball, which lasts just 10 million, billion, billionths of a second, can be detected because it absorbs jets of particles produced by the beam collisions.
But Nastase, of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, says there is something unusual about it.
Ten times as many jets were being absorbed by the fireball as were predicted by calculations.
The Brown researcher thinks the particles are disappearing into the fireball's core and reappearing as thermal radiation, just as matter is thought to fall into a black hole and come out as "Hawking" radiation.
However, even if the ball of plasma is a black hole, it is not thought to pose a threat. At these energies and distances, gravity is not the dominant force in a black hole. |

thats friggin awsome...
Technically a small enough black hole without the dangerous gravitational problems could be an unlimited energy source )

That kicks ass, it will be a portal to other galaxies and dimensions.
I want to go to a new reality.

ya, but you would need some special 8 armed contraption that clamped on to your brain to control it!

If my head would be constantly exploding, I guess that means I wouldnt be dying right? I figure one could get used to the pain, OR it may not even hurt... Just some crazed side-effect of going to Dimension 763-OB1 or something!
But yea.. Or a dimension where I gained super-powers. Even though I am sure the super-power I developed would be super sense of taste or smell... Which would be s****y as fuckballs.

If you removed (or deadened) the nervous system around the exploding part of your brain, you could carry around a little reactor in your skull. It would be exciting but, more importantly, your eyes would glow.

Glowing eyes would rock until you ran into someone you couldn't intimidate and they beat you up =/

I don't think i'd ever support trying to create black holes on any scale that could actually become self sustaining.

Someday some lab somewhere will create something that will instantly suck up and destroy most of our solar system.

I woulnd't support anything like this for another 50-100 years at least. Prolly more until our understanding of the subject matter get WAY better.
We dont even know exactly what a black hole is, until then. stay the f**k awway.
It's just cool if you read a lot on this sort of stuff to conceive of things we COULD do with it someday.
Shit, it's possible to combine black holes and create pliable space-time to build structures (theoretically)....think of the possibities!

I'd settle for a really good sandwich right now. lettuce, tomato, pickle, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, 3 different meats, 2 different cheeses, on toasted sour dough.

We could lob tiny black holes from space, at socialist countries that don't follow our instructions.
Think weapons people, thats all that matters in the end.

Tiny black holes contained in a high charge magnetic field, fired at a target at a high rate of speed, disentergrating thier targets on impact.
excellent.

haha! someone shoots a 1 inch black hole at, say, Greece, and everything within 1500 miles immediately gets sucked into the hole!

and then the hole is a little bigger and continues to suck us all up.
