LOTRO characters per server?

I was really busy at the time this game started and now that I've finally finished my exams I'm able to join you guys and I'm really looking forward to it. I wasn't able to find a definite answer to one question though: how many characters can you have per server? And btw which server would you recommend?

You can have up to 5 characters on one server. And as for your other question, it depends on what you're looking for and where you're from. I suppose you're from the US so I'll write accordingly. When you start the game, Turbine will offer you one or two servers that are the least populated at the time. And if you like the crowds I'd suggest you Brandywine.
