Got here late, the German cops from what I saw were all very well armed when I lived in Germany. They had what looked like uzis for sobriety checkpoints and such, and the same around the train stations, usually they had dogs with them also, scattered about, not every one. So don't think the Canadian border thing would happen there (was a reply to someone earlier)
Sure, Germany may have lost if the US wouldn't have entered the fight, but I highly doubt it. Even if Russia could of kept the human zerg up, it would of bought the Germans time to finish their nuke program and other programs that would of turned the tables instantly. Despite being crazy, his scientists were top notch and very close to finishing a lot of stuff.
I don't hate Canada, but I do find it funny when Canadians say that they don't need a military, because everyone loves them. It doesn't matter how nice you are, did Poland p**s Hitler off? I guess the billions of protection money from Kuwait to Saddam weren't enough to keep them on his good side. Canada has a shit load of land, a lot of countries in the world would like to have your land, believe that. You don't have to offend people to have someone come for your stuff. IF the US said, "s***w Canada, we are cutting ties, and won't help them if someone invaded them". I will bet you any amount of money that the countries military budget would multiply drastically. This wont happen, but its ignorant to assume being 'nice' will save you from someones greed.

We need to build new military stuff for sure, it's just that people here don't like the idea of having most of their cash go in military for the next decade.
Is my cash better spent on military or being stole by some old fart lying bastards? /shrug
At least if we buy new military equipment our soldiers wont die all the time without reaching the front.
Problem is our country is way too big for the number of soldiers we can have, we are very limited money wise and to cover it all would cost more then the US.
Now 10 times less people here then in the US, 100 times less cash , make the calcul it will cost way less to put sighs everywere on trees in the north such as : No terrorist, No drugs, No weapons, thank you!
Oh and last time we bought submarines from Englands once they got here and we tried them they started taking water and most equipment coulsnt be used...
So hell unless its new equipement...
