Seeing tiluvas post prompted me to ninja his thinking Razz

I've recently moved to LA (2 months ago to corona) from the netherlands and have yet to find any good clubs.
Now let me be more precise, i dont mean "bars". I'm not a bar person.
I'm into mostly dance/trance/hardtrance/techno, which means theres no clear definition of the music listen to Razz

Anyhow, i'm hoping some of you can tell me some good clubs anywhere in LA (pref close to corona but i dont mind drving for a really GOOD club)..
Also what kind of dresscode is "normal" in LA.
Most clubs in holland are dress shoes, no training pants and no nike type sports shirts.
Would be nice to find a good techno/hardcore place that lets you wear sneakers coz i hate dress shoes unless it's a funeral Razz

Anyhow, gimme some tips.
In a less degree if anyone knows any good metal/alternative clubs i'd be interested to, just for a change of pace.

Thanks in advance Smile

You won't find shit worthwhile near Corona, I'll tell you that right now, unless you're specifically looking to hang out w/ Mexican people. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you want an actual "club scene" then you have to go to Hollywood on Sunset where all the stuck up rich people go who like to act fake. Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach have a more relaxed bar scene. If you're into the dancing and shit though then Sunset is the place to be. Places such as the Sunset Room etc, but either find some hook ups or you're gonna be waiting in some long ass lines.

heh, ash sounds like a disgruntled OCer or probably lives in a suburb of LA like PV. Anyway, you can find anything and everything in the LA club scene as long as you know where to look. Yes, there are pretentious flashy clubs that are ridiculously pricey and f*****g are impossible to get into for a lot of people ( but I can get you on the guest list at The Highlands, White Lotus and Sunset Room-Yes, go me. ^^) but there are kick back clubs/bars all over the f*****g place and they all have unqiue vibes. That being said, here are some suggestions on the top of my head to get you started and if those don't get you into the right direction, I can offer you more suggestions since many of the events move around from venue to venue. Anyway here are a few :

1) bossa:nova On Friday nights.

Description: A weekly adventure in house, future soul & nu-jazz breaks

Talent: DJs Jason Bentley (KROQ & KCRW Metropolis Host), Jun, Dave Hernandez, and Allen Voskanian

Venue: Zanzibar

Address: 1301 5th St Santa Monica, CA 90401

Time: 10pm-2am

Ages: 21+

2) Sensa-Friday Nights

Description: Deep House by some heroes the LA radio collective at KCRW. Dress nicely, but comfortably.

Talent: Raul Campos (KCRW host of Nocturna), Liza Richardson, Valida, Kasey Goto.

Venue: Sugar, 814 Broadway, Santa Monica; (310) 899-1989

Time: 10 pm – 2 am

Ages: 21+

Cover: $5
Cover: $10

Red on Friday Nights.

Description: Newtimes LA magazine has awarded Red “Best After Hours Club” for the second time in a row.

Talent: Local talent, Up-and-coming DJs, and established international stars. You’ll find Progressive and Trance on most nights.

Venue: Larchmont, 5657 Melrose Ave., Hollywood; (323) 467-4068

Time: 10 pm – 4 am

Ages: 21+

3 ) Spundae presents Godskitchen -Saturdays

Description: The enthusiastic crowd generally dresses comfortably to get down to what the DJs cook up, and the music is often top notch. There are two VIP areas with bottle service and tables. You probably have heard of Godskitchen in England and yes they are affiliated since they bought out the Spundae brand a lil less than a year ago.

Talent: Restless up-and-coming DJs Cody Lee, Oliver Twist, Tim Lawson, and The Two-Man Group (Isaiah Martin & Magic Fingarz) with Kourtney open for global House, Breaks, and Trance DJs. Hip-hop DJs Foci and Chumpchange rock the VIP area.

Venue: Henry Fonda Theater, 6126 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood 90028; (323) 769-5157

Time: 10 pm – 5:30 am

Ages: 21+

Cover: $20

Tickets: www.groovetickets.com

4 ) Fame on Saturdays

Description: A fun vibe amidst a celebrity clientele, with no cameras allowed.

Venue: XES, 1716 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood; (323) 461-8190

Time: 10 pm – 2 am

Ages: 21+

5) Chocolate Bar on Saturdays

Description: Really laid back and diverse. It’s a fun hang-out for some friends who want to get crazy without the fuss of a “Hollywood” vibe. Hip-hop, reggae, pop classics are the styles they bump.

Talent: DJ Daz, T. Lee, Cokni O Dire, and Higher

Venue: Gabah, 4658 Melrose Ave., Silver Lake

Time: 9 pm – 2 am

Ages: 21+

Cover: $5 - $10

Nobu, will you be my new best friend? You seem to know a lot about shit in LA that I had no clue about Razz It sucks growing up in a small area w/ nothing to do. I want bars w/o all the fake hollywood types. My female friends unfortunately enjoy the dancing thing (I suck at it). Can you name some good places that incorporate both and aren't too far from PV? Sunset is about a 1 hour drive on a weekend and I'm not a huge fan of standing in hour+ lines when I don't even know if I'll get in Razz If you have hook ups, by all means share the wealth.

Avi, one of the best resources out there is the a Free Weekly called the LA Weekly which is LA's version of the Village Voice. It has tons of ads in there with what's happening with the local club/concert scene and is highly recommended. Use this link to find a store that may carry a copy near you. Also check out this weeks edition that has the Best of LA...

Swing Dancing is fun and the Derby in Hollywood off of Los Feliz Blvd is the best for that. I used to go there alot in my "Swinger's" stage when Big Dad Voodoo Daddy and the Stray Cats used to play there. Fun place and I think they provide lessons there on like Wed or Thursday nights. There a ton of other places on Tuesday nights like Lunarias. The Argyle Hotel on Monday which is a cool art deco hotel and if you're really into it, they have a huge event for swing dancing at the 3rd street Promenade every other Sunday between like 4 & 8 pm.

Actually I never cared about what others think which is why I rarely offer my opinion in an aggressive manner here unless I'm bored and want to initiate some online jousting unlike someone who before he got his account deleted had how many thousands of posts trying to force his opinions upon other people. Again, lacking any substance. So obviously you seem to care about what other people think and sadly what anonymous people think for you tend to respond to anything and everything. Man, life must suck to be a sensitive blue collar guy such as yourself but no worries, your life expectancy shouldn't be that long with a 300+ cholesterol level from all that good eatin you do. lol

And to reiterate, No I have never done my nails or had a pedicure but why do you have this obsession about nails? Please don't tell me you're a closet f****t. Say it ain't so. =/

Tell me I'm wrong. I dare you.

LOL

Word war is fun while I watch the news and do other shit. Its a guilty pleasure:)

But please, tell me more about the MOST successful restaurants in LA AND NY, you seem to know so much kid, big "business man" that you are, LOL. Oh yeah, tell me about the BEST clubs in LA, you know the BEST in NY too kid?

OH, shit I almost forgot....you know the BEST golf teacher!!!!

How lucky we are to know you, so you can tell us all about the best of the best.

How old are you kid? I'm guessing 25 ish.

You know SO much about what is the BEST. Sure this isn't you?

and what because youre a mere 42 you know it all? please Kbarr you are a bitter old man that trys to make himself feel big by insulting kids online.

Incorrect. I insult a******s:) Most happen to be kids because most kids ARE a******s. And I don't do it to feel big. I do it as entertainment:)

One more thing, I'm bitter AND cynical.

Its the only way to be:)

Oh, thinks for the "mere 42".

most kids that you know are a******s. most kids I know arent. Most of the kids here arent either, but they are defensive. you are closed minded, you say your convinced. You are like the kid that got beat at an early age for most of his life and thinks that is how you treat people. That attuide of "if they talk back, hit them".

So is your kid an a*****e?

Nope, I beat it out of him in an early age.

Thank god.

About the a******s. I can say with 100% confidence that all the kids/a******s that I have had disagreements with here are indeed a******s.

Why do you think I select them:)

LOL

Yeah I hear about events happening all the time at Spundae in LA, I'd love to make it out there one day. Staying open until 5:30am is real nice, alot of US cities don't go for that. Ferry Corsten was back in Detroit last month and hooked us up by spinning until 4am, and I have no idea how. The cops usually break up the party around 2am. Sad

Oh and you can often avoid the line just by hitting up groovetickets.

Cool

OOo, the "closet f*g" comment!

When I hear that, I KNOW I'm pushing buttons:)

Now, about "they", they are all a******s because they ARE a******s. I didn't make them a******s, I just target them. You never hear me argue with young people who are of correct mind. I target a******s not so I can shake my fist, its so I can smile at the screen when they get all pissy!

Just like you are.

Its fun!

ahh actually you seem to be the one getting all p****d off and obsessing over the computer screen. no doubt you cannot get any sense of humor at all over a post and you take it all to heart. i can see that the one with the red dot on their forhead is you, but it is not from just one sight but the collective sights of anyone intelligent who hates ignorant, fat, old, retired donut munchers. so to you i say f**k off and keep on sitting there responding to anyone that gets on your nerves and keep trying to turn it around to your lonesome self getting on their nerves. good day old chap.
