A big let down pretty much describes my feelings regarding the movie. I didn't realize they were trying to make it so realistic by not allowing Merlin to use magic even though he's described as some dark mage. There was really no point to his part at all in the movie. Then there is the issue of Guinevere liking both Arthur and Lancelot, so in the movie she has **** with Arthur but keeps giving Lancelot these seductive stares. I think they tried to squeeze too much story into one movie and by making it more realistic, they ruined what it could have been. It's still semi entertaining action wise though.

Merlin isn't so much a wizard, but very knowledgable and educated Shaman I believe....

a Woad Scholar you might say.

It had great potential, but had I realized that it was rated PG-13 I wouldnt have expected as much. There is essentially no blood or gore, which I thought would be more necessary with the fight scenes.. It could have been up there with BraveHeart, had it not been so toned down.

=/ Damn

Except that Braveheart has a lot more to offer than blood and gore.

Excalibur exists, there is little point making another movie about this story.

I know that, but just based on the 'effects of war' I expected more of the blood and gore. There were FAR too many scenes where you see a soldier do a huge slash with his weapon, when there could have been entrails to follow. It may seem like a trivial part of the movie ( and story-wise, it is ) but it seems as though they intentionally toned it down to fit the rating.

And as for Eduin's comment; Excalibur's significance was non-existant... He pulled it from his father's grave as a boy... yeah thats about it.

For God's sake, you scum, Eduin is saying that since the movie "Excalibur" exists, there is no reason to make another Arthur story.

wouldn't it be easier to just put "Regards, Eduin" in your signature? That's like when Iustus used to make posts on the ED boards and would always sign it with "-I" or something :p
