I agree that any zone can lose its luster. Some people dislike LDoN for the repetitive nature, but I say you guys probably shouldn't do 10 in a row, or even in a week. Any zone loses it's luster, unless you're really into it for some reason. Some of you guys really dug Velk's. I don't see how, but hey that's just me.
I had my own favorite for levels 29-34. I really enjoyed crawling to the bottom of Crystal Caverns, selling, then going back up. Best groups ever were in that zone with Gozer and a couple of his friends.
EQ has a lot more choices for xp now. From everything I've seen in online
gaming, fun is a pretty simple (though easy to overlook) equation:
(challenge * choices) / timesinks
The more challenges you have, the more fun it is. But if you have 0 choice about what to do, it's no fun at all. For every time sink, it takes away from the fun, but if you have no timesinks at all it's not possible; it's no longer an mmorpg at that point.
The straightforward classes, like rogue and warrior, take more creativity to up the 'choice' value. You can't just single pull and expect it to be fun. Where is your choice? You need to do things like pull 2 or 3 at once so the nukers can drop rains, spread mobs out and let half of them root-rot while the other half are tanked, or hell even do the patented Ushiro Mob Boomerang technique (PM me for details!).
Maybe some of you tanks and clerics could give me your ideas on how you stay entertained. If you say, "we don't" then you're a sorry sack of shit - either play a game you like or admit you're a whining waste of flesh.

Dear Indiana,
I personally haven't had much fun XPing for several years, so in general, I don't sit around and XP wiithout a reason. I enjoy raiding. However XPing is always more enjoyable when you are with people you get along with well (that means no pickup groups!) and where you can have interesting conversations. Also, being drunk helps.

Sadly I got to the point where I diddn't do things for fun. It was either to get loot or rake in xp (but that got boring after the first 100 aa's on all my chars)
BoT middle earth was my favorite spot for xp/lewtz. LDoN got boring sadly. If I wasn't a powergamer maybe it would be fun but sadly if it dosen't involve loot or xp count me out!

Hi there. Uh lol, my favorite zone to XP in was Howling Stones, because not everyone could go there (it took a key), the zone-in wasn't safe (so people couldn't sit there all day whining for a group), the XP was good and the ratio of mobs to named mobs was excellent.
So when you went to Howling Stones, you knew three things:
1. You'd be in a group with people you knew (usually friends and guildies)
2. You'd get good XP over the course of the time you spent there
3. You'd get some pretty good loot if you stayed long enough
The idea behind Howling Stones was that it was a zone for people who wanted a little more danger to go with a little bit better loot and XP.
And the best part of the whole thing was that there wasn't really a safe place to sit in the entire zone, so it was quiet. Nobody begging for buffs or groups.
They need to upgrade zones like this periodically. Keep the mobs on pace for the 55-60 group, but make the loot a little better so that they'll still want to go there. Of course, now that I think about it, all that means is that two 65/800s will duo the zone and loot everything. Nevermind.

See, you have two choices. Either admit you want someone here, not necessarily me (although your fixation on me is pretty neat), to identify with you or admit you don't want anyone here to identify with you whatsoever.
You fall into one of those two categories. You don't have the courage to admit you want someone to read your words. However, you're really likely to make a smart-ass reply begging for someone to identify with you.
In the case that you really don't care, that you are spending your non-renewable time in a place you neither respect nor are concerned about, then you just "owned" yourself. You just admitted you don't even care about your own time enough to spend it somewhere, anywhere, doing something you like. You'd rather stew in your own unhappiness.
Judging from the malicious tone in your messages (only a few of which are actually directed at me), I'd say it's the latter. You really do have serious psychological problems.

I disagree. Instancing removes competition. Competition creates strife and seriously ruins a night of fun. Ever been trained and lost 90 minutes of your time because someone wanted the mob you were going after? 90 minutes, man. It doesn't sound like much, but 90 minutes is a lot of time. I can get a complete workout in, wash some clothes and clean the house, write 5-6 pages of fiction... all sorts of things in 90 minutes.
The game went to shit due to mudflation and powergamers. Nothing even comes close to these 2 problems, and neither is unique to EQ.
