If this is a stupid question I'm sorry.
I have DLed the same exact song, the duration is exactly the same, but the file size is different. One might be much larger than the other one.
Duration 5:02
Size 7.65MB
same song
Duration 5:02
size 8.56 MB
They are exactly the same, from the same album, but one is larger.
Why is that?

I'm no expert on the matter, but i'd guess that one of the files is higher quality than the other (even though you probably can't hear any difference).

Yeah, different quality.
Anything more than 128kbps is a waste. If you keep getting people's 192 specials, convert that crap down to 128 so you won't waste all your space. It freakin' adds up.

It's def a difference in quality... just run your mouse over the song before you download it and a box will pop up and usually have the quality.. 128 is the target number! Some burners don't even burn songs if they're not exactly 128...

i really don't like getting mp3s off kazza, but when i do i normally have to dl the same song like 6 times to get a good copy.
some are just loops, are just bad, then you get the funny at first, but old really quick people trying to sing along with the songs crap

not allways paden i got a ton of the bad evanessace tracks that way, but i usualy get a good mp3 the first time unless im not watching and get a wmv or some thing.
also if you hold ctrl when the yellow box pops up it wont vanish so fast

bah 128 quality sucks!!!
go 512 ^_^ or even better .. wav files!
no really . i can tell the difference between 128 files and 300whatever ones of the same when playing songs on my good speakers i have hooked up via digital RCA cable at loud volumes
as for 300whatever -> 512 i dont hear any difference really .. but i do hear difference between that and wav files ..
(this is when i rip directly off CDs that ive noticed this)
