Who cares if kids bug? They are kids. They bug. You are the parent. You don't have to give in to your kids. Period.
You don't have a point unless you are blaming MacDonalds for unruly whiny kids in the back of the car when they see the big yellow M. |
Cel do you have kids?
No you don't have to give into kids period, no question about it and you saying there never is kids in the back of a vehicle doing that when they see those arches? Think again.
I have a point, it's called no matter what moderation you eat McDonalds NONE of it ever is good for you and making 99% of any decent meal at home is much better, I do pay much attention to what goes on our table every time my family sits down to eat or when we go get groceries, the point is many people are too lazy to give a rats ass about their kids and put their kids at risk to poor health, fast food joints don't have to target kids to sell their foods, ever. That is a problem whether you think it is or not, or you can always not have your kid sitting in front of a television regularly as well and not see the garbage on TV.
I have points and so do you, simply we could argue both sides all day long and get nowhere |
Umm do you read?
Of course kids will bug in the car if they want french fries. I'm saying big f*****g deal if they do. I hate the blame-society in America. You cannot possibly blame a corporation for you not being able to quiet your kids in the back of the car. That's retarded. Or for you not being able to resist their begging faces. It's all you, baby! Take responsibility.
And yeah, fat lazy people with fat lazy kids are a huge problem. I coudln't agree with you more. I just don't agree with you on whose problem that is. I do not blame MacDonalds for that one single bit.
I don't believe in removing temptations. I believe in teaching kids skills so they learn how to DEAL with situations. If you ask me there are WAY too many people who never learn any dealing-with-anything skills and thus are ill-prepared to survive (mentally and physically) in our society.

448 grams = 1 pound
1 ounce of Pepsi has approximately 3.33 grams of sugar.
About 134 ounces of Pepsi = 1 pound of sugar.

McDonald's large size is what, 32 oz? Most people drink 1 of these plus a refill? That is nearly half a pound of sugar right there, in one sitting.

Yeah, my pepsi math was a little off. 1 pound of sugar = 8.5 pounds of pepsi.
So you're saying that most people drink 4 pounds of pepsi in one sitting?? As ridiculous as that claim is, pepsi is one of the higher-sugar items on their menu. He would have to eat an additional 33 hamburgers/day to make up the extra half a pound if he were able to acheive what you claim is typical.

Seriously man I am not solely blaming McDonalds nor did I ever say that nor did I say you can't shut them up, I said it does happen Cel said it didn't.
I honestly think some of the problem is you think the big guy shouldn't take any heat and instead blame it all on the people. If I said to you tomorrow that eating 3 steaks and 8 potatoes a day was good for you many people would go do it, what is good and what is bad for you changes daily.
You can teach someone over and over again the same shit and still do other things, such as everybody knows not to kill someone but tons of people do it anyhow and why?
People see it in games/TV/movies/internet whatever. People do things because it is in their face, and yes obviously a shitload of people can't get a grasp on their choices but if you had p***y in your face on a regular basis and you weren't suppose to dive in until you were married eventually you would take the plunge.
You have good points, I just don't agree with none of the blame for the US being the most over weight country in the world shouldn't go into what they are feeding you down there.
You can't really say the population in the US is that dumb not to take care of themselves or they just don't care can you?

That's exactly what I'm saying.
And why is America the nr. 1 concerning obese people?
I say it has something to do with hedonism, luxury, long work weeks and generations of people that have never been taught they can't have everything and that everything isn't to blame on sources outside themselves. But hey, I don't live there. You tell me.

nor do I live there, I have enjoyed all my trips to the US and there has been many of them, luxury I think is way off, sure some parts of the country no question but Fast food is cheap, if you are made of money you likely won't be visiting McDonalds on a regular basis.
Long work weeks I agree as they are the same here in Canada and yeah they suck no question but a lame excuse for people to not eat properly back to the point again of poor judgement of people you made and I agree with there.

The fact is that it is a person's choice to eat at a fast food establishment. Most people that walk in and out of the doors are fine. Should anyone try and make a connection to smoking just remember a person can counterbalance eating. If a person eats a lot, then they can run harder, lift more, swim more, throw up more. A person choosing to spend most of their time eating, yet not work the food off, or become involved in a balancing activity is choosing to be that way. It was hard enough to try and find cigarette companies responsible in any way for smokers. This is just a person's attempt to make a bigger name for themself. Disgusting waste of space.

Now adays... it probably isn't their fault, or at least to a degree where they can be blamed. It WAS their fault to lie about carcingens in the cigarettes. It WAS their fault for influencing doctors to perscribe smoking for a number of conditions, including stress and blood pressure problems. it WAS their fault keeping the deadly facts about their product secret to have sales stay high. It WAS their fault for trying to get younger audiences hooked. It WAS their fault for purposely using the ingredients they did, when they could have used a number of others traditionally used in non industrial cigarette making.
Today people have the facts and so much money is spent educating people that getting hooked in the first place is not ignorance. It is something willful. Because of that, there is fair discussion about whether they today share a large amount of blame for their new users, however, their past actions clearly show they are responsible for older users. Luckily for them, most are dead, dying, or just were not effected. The cigarette companies got off light.

Yeah, my pepsi math was a little off. 1 pound of sugar = 8.5 pounds of pepsi.

He was forced to supersize whenever asked... which would lead to nearly 100 oz of Pepsi right there if he had three meals. He could easily make up for the missing sugar through his food and other beverages throughout the day.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but do you really need to in order to know that soda and fast-food is horrible for you? It should be trivially obvious lol.

The closing text said that he supersized 9 times over the month (a total of 90 meals). Even if he did drink 100 oz of coke/day (which he didn't since he rarely actually supersized), that's about half a pound of sugar per day. If you look at McDonalds' nutrition info, it's not easy to consume another half a pound of sugar in 3 meals. The fries are sugar-free, so those can't contribute. The only explanation would be if he drank another 4 pounds of milkshake/day on top of his 2 supersized cokes. In practice, if he had 2 large cokes/day, he would consume 1/3 pound/day of sugar. It would take 38 big macs to fill the gap.

It's approximately the same when dealing with water (which coke basically is).

I finished Fast Food Nation a few weeks ago ... People that read it told me "you will never have Mc Donalds again". It was a great book and he spent a lot of time researching it, and of course it was shocking to a certain extent, but I'm sure, down the line, I will still have an occasional burger!
