and was very disappointed. I heard good things about it, but it was really lame.
-The maker of the film had an obvious grudge against McDonalds. Perhaps he was recently fired? He was encouraging viewers to sue for being fat. It immediately made all of his facts questionable.
-The guy ate a ridiculous amount of food. I understand that he was trying to illustrate a point, but it was just ridiculous. He didn't say how much he ate, but at the end he said that he had consumed an average of a pound of sugar per day. He would have to consume 11 pounds of pepsi, 67 hamburgers (almost 15 pounds worth) or 6 pounds of chocolate milkshake (their sweetest item) PER DAY in order to successfully consume that much sugar. One would have to be incredibly morbidly obese to even be able to tolerate, let alone want, that much food.
-It relied too much on acting. Much of the film was shots of the guy pretending to be elated, or depressed, or concerned for his health. It was pretty contrived.
This movie was overhyped because...you guessed it: its leftist ideology. It tried to portray McDonalds as financially responsible for bad eating habits to encourage lawsuits. It tried to portray a fat American public as a victim. Ultimately it was a rather poorly executed propaganda film (Michael Moore is much more skilled in the art) based a ridiculous study. If you're going to try and illustrate the bad effects of McDonalds (or french food or cheese or heavy cream), try being realistic. Don't eat 15 pounds of it per day.

man... that p****s me off.
Sue MacDonalds coz you keep buying their food with your own money and of your own free will and choice and stuffing your own face with it?
It's so f*****g retarded.
Confused:
It's not leftist ideology.
It's an idiot in a movie.

Yes it was retarded. He even interviewed "experts" claiming that cheese is similar to opium and that McDonalds indoctrinates children by putting up free playgrounds so that when they grow up they create a psychological association with the good feelings of their youth.

ROFL.
It's probably all true, but the same can be true for food you cook yourself. It's still all about the choices you make.
Some people might never eat MacDonalds but still be fat because they make a lot of crappy food for themselves.
His 'facts' can be so easily rebuffed it's silly. The bad thing is that he probably knows they don't need to be rebuffed, and even if they are, they'll still be believed by lots of people. Smart marketing if you want to start a 'healthy food' restaurant chain.
Watch, because that's what's gonna happen next.

I still have trouble understanding why this film has become as popular as it has.
Who, honestly, couldn't figure out eating McDonalds for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for an entire month wouldn't make you fat?
All this did was state the obvious. And how long is the running time on this thing? What could possible be so interesting about whatching this moron gorge himself with fast food.

I think the 'new' thing about is that he stated that actually eating at macdonalds all the time would make you sick, not just fat.
Didn't he get kidneyproblems or something like that?

His liver produced a toxin of some sort, I believe it was.
I usually make a point not to watch any documentaries of late. The one's being produced nowadays, sans a few, are chalk full of laughable, liberal b******t.
Michael Moore would be better off doing this documentary. The increased chances of him sustaining a heart attack would make my toes curl with joy.

LOL
You know I think a good documentary sparks a debate, so in that respect it was a good documentary.
It may have been full of b******t, but it might have gotten people thinking about their eating-behaviours as well though, and I did notice that ever since that documentary MacDonalds in Holland have introduced meal-salads (dunno if that's because of that, but it might)

You eat a greasy quarter pounder, greasy extra large batch of fries and a soda filled with sugar. You do this every day. You then wonder, "Why am I fat?"
Therein lies a human that obviously doesn't 'get' much of anything. They're to go back to kindergarten and relearn that "2+2=4", not, "I done got fat from them thar cheese burgers, and, hey, here comes the ACLU!"
Well, not necessarily the ACLU, but I highly doubt it's beneath them.

Even still. Said conversations being sparked by some guy doing something apparently moronic? If it takes that much to get through to someone, what's the point?
I'll make a documentary about drinking a 24 pack and pint of Jim Beam every day for a whole month. The world's knees will buckle when they finally find out that alcohol in excess is bad for you.

you guys are all crazy.
How can you even possibly stand up for McDonalds regardless, he eats McDonalds for every meal of the day, that says enough for just how much of the garbage he eats, it shouldn't matter a specific number.
Point is if you eat it enough or even on a semi regular basis the shit is very bad for you. If you had listend to the beginning of the show he chose McDonalds because how many of them there is in the radius of where he lives and it is the majority of the fast food joints.
He was trying to prove the point that McDonalds in fact DOES make you fat, not making a point of everyone should go SUE them. THe beginning of the movie tells you this as well with the two girls who were trying to sue them over the fact they can't prove the shit food does this to your body. He proved it and sure it doesn't mean you should eat the stuff everyday to get that way but reality is a lot of people do.
Open your eyes...... I guess this really is why America is the most over weight country in the world

You are missing all the points on the ACTUAL statistics said in the movie, you really shouldn't even be paying attention to what he is doing that is simply a side show to the real problem stated.

Who's defending McDonald's? They're a neutral party. You don't need a documentary to tell you there're latent risks in poor eating habits.

obviously you do to some extenet because a shitload of people think their food is fine to eat daily.
Hell even their lighter menu is worse than their Big Macs
My point is how sad it is that so many people eat that shit daily, not just McDonalds but the fast food in general because they are too lazy to put a sandwich in a bag and an apple or some shit.
THe movie was done just fine if you pay attention to all the facts mentioned and look at the shit he does to himself as a side note because hopefully nobody eats that shit 3 times a day so his study on his own body isn't real in actual facts because nobody does that or at least you would hope to f**k not

Exactly. Just because McDonald's doesn't have a pretty, little warning lable (and how many things can you say that for nowadays?) doesn't mean there aren't risks involved.
The light menu is a bad idea, especially since (as you said) it's not "light" at all for the most part. For them to provide 'less fatty/caloric dishes'--great--but to veil them with a word people familiarize with lean and healthy, when, obviously it's not, is quite possibly asking for more trouble than they had in the first place.

Who's defending MacDonalds?
I'll put it in stronger words: who says MacDonalds even needs defending??
They are doing nothing wrong. They provide a service, that a lot of people want to use. Noone forces them to go there and eat till they're a fat blob. People should take some g*****n responsibility for themselves. Everyone knows if you eat fat shit all the time you will become a fat shit sooner or later.
The fact that something is around you a lot doesn't mean shit. I see many women every day. That doesn't mean I will become a l*****n and eat p***y.
Yeah, that's a ridiculous statement. So is saying that MacDonalds makes you fat. No. YOU are making YOU fat.

I disagree, not getting behind the product you sell and standing up for it and not avoiding numberous calls regarding his program and saying their food doesn't do this and doesn't do that is b******t.
Why do you think for example McDonalds has their Monopoly game on their fries and shit, to get you to come in there as much as possible and as often as possible to try and win something where you likely have a better chance at getting hit by lightning.

That's not subliminal, that's a marketting tool. If McDonald's withheld nutritional information of their products, it'd be a completely different story. Fact is they don't, people just don't care to look.
Hell, if one buys into the idea of silly contests and insidiously mind-numbing songs rather than the greasy treat that it's selling--f**k 'em.

Dude, like Gethy said: that's marketing, has nothing to do with any subliminal shit or anything else that sounds even remotely like a conspiracy theory.
I'm not stating that a MacDonalds meal is healthy.
It isn't. So?
Many things that people eat daily aren't healthy. That's my point: people who like to eat unhealthily will do so with or WITHOUT a restaurant called MacDonalds. It's about personal choices. Some people can't make wise ones.
I eat at MacDonalds, once in a while. I don't do it every day.
I'm perfectly fine. The food isn't bad for you at all, if you use moderation.
Same with wine - a glass a day is good for you, if you drink it all day every day you're f*****g up your liver.
Hell, you can even eat TOO much vitamin, in too great amounts some vitamins can be bad for you.
Just be smart about what you eat. Simple as that. Moderation is key.
The problem isn't the food they serve, the problem is that people don't know how, or are unwilling to, maintain a balance in their diet.
The thing that p****s me off so much about people who say it's MacDonalds fault is because they are trying to shift the blame of their own lack of selfcontrol onto something else.

Clearly shown in the movie McDonalds doesn't post the nutrition information in majority of their restaraunts and I do agree as well it is the people at fault, but there is no doubt the almighty dollar is all they care about and that is quite obvious and hey good for them that they can prey on the fact that parents would rather take their kids to McDonalds then actually make then something decent and the lazy asses out there who can't pack a decent meal

regardless of this argument here the sad shit in the movie is the stats not what buddy does to himself, the kids at schools with the shit food and the numbers of people who do eat that shit regularly truly is sad and hopefully this movie woke some people up in the end

Clearly shown in the movie McDonalds doesn't post the nutrition information in majority of their restaraunts and I do agree as well it is the people at fault, but there is no doubt the almighty dollar is all they care about and that is quite obvious and hey good for them that they can prey on the fact that parents would rather take their kids to McDonalds then actually make then something decent and the lazy asses out there who can't pack a decent meal |
Why the hell would they?
Do you see nutritional information on the menu or anywhere else for that matter if you go out to dinner in any other restaurant/diner? No.
The only place where nutritional information is readily accessible if you go to the supermarket and buy your food yourself.
And yes lazy parents are awful, but you know what: when I see a family at MacDonalds and even the children are fat I blame the parents. As far as being preyed on: that's what marketing is all about: define your target group and cater to their wishes.
Wish different, and you'll get catered to differently. Such is the name of the game. Don't blame MacDonalds, blame stupid lazy people.
