Should add 1 more vote to a state that will already win for my choice.

Thats the sad part about the electoral college. I live out here in California so my vote also doesnt matter.

But, I guess its better than presidents winning just by focusing on California and NY while ignoring the rest of the country.

Why is focusing on Ohio and Florida so much better then focusing on California and NY?

Probably because polls indicate that Bush has no way of winning either state, but has a decent chance of winning Ohio and Florida. So why concentrate on a state you are going to lose, when you can rally states you may win.

I know why candidates focus on the swing states. But an argument for the electoral college is that 'If we did popular vote, candidates would only focus on CA, NY, Illinois, etc'. In our current system, candidates don't focus on small states, nor do they focus on a very large number of states, they focus on the large and medium sized 'swing states'. This election basically revolves around Ohio and Florida. If either candidate can win both those states, they probably win the electoral college.

My vote sucks too. We live in Texas. One thing though, they will know that their margins will be going down in this state if we show up and vote. Your state may not be in play this election but if your voice is heard it may be next election!
