I watched Jeopardy for the first time in a LONG time last night and I was FLOORED at how insanely easy the questions were. It makes me wonder if all the SHIT that's on TV now has "stupified" America to the point that they can't watch intelligent gameshows?
discuss...

I think this is more true than anything, especially when you haven't watched in a long time. I don't think it's any easier than it used to be...

Well if it has it happened a long time ago. I was able to answer a good chunk of the questions when I was 15, and that has stayed pretty much the same. Might have been a day that had stuff in the area you know better.

If it's so easy go compete. Seriously though, Jeapordy is as hard as your knowledge of the subject.
For instance.
If I was playing and these subjects came up -
Dance Dance Revolution
Everquest
Bodybuilding
Being an a*****e
Potent Potables
How to Min/Max
Arnold Schwarzaneggar
Words ending in -amburger
Ya I'd do pretty good. Some shit you know, some you don't. Not knowing or knowing fruits that start with the letter Z doesn't make me any more intelligent or stupid.

They've replaced questions that involve history that you read in books to questions that involve history that you see in made for TV movies

Well considering there's no such thing as an accurate and impartial historical account of anything, what's the difference, really?

Have you ever met the target audience for civil war movies first hand? They can't handle much in the way of 'lernd folk'

Well for example.. the final Jeapordy category last night was "American Literature" and the answer was...
"this novel described the main characters clothing as "embolded with something blah blah blah"
anywase it was pretty obvious it was about "The Scarlet Letter"
This is pretty sad that I knew the answer but have never read the book. I saw the movie with Demi Moore..

I think whoever was on Jeopardy that night simply got really lucky. Also, the show's been on for how long now? You have to think they at least sometimes have to scrape a little lower down the barrel for trivia.

Also, keep in mind that people aren't going to watch a gameshow they can't play along with. Questions will get easier as ratings sag, folks like the ego boost. The hugely popular Who Wants to be a Millionaire was firmly entrenched in moron country, and for awhile was the biggest show on TV.

Saw an actual Jeopardy show that made fun of SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy. They did catagories like Sean Connery, and others that mocked the SNL skits. Was quite amusing if you knew where the references were from
