Heh, THE RING! Or "Ringu" if you feel like tacking on the engrish.
The titles for the first book and japanese movies are all in english. The Ring (US) is based off The Ring (JPN), which is based off, The Ring (JPN Book)
The second two books are Spiral and Loop. Only the first book is availible in english.

I'm not gonna jump on anybody here, but did anyone really like the American movie 'The Ring?' I thought it was terrible, probably the first movie I've wanted to walk out on since John Goodman's 'Matinee.' It was really teenybopper predictible tripe that moved slower than John Elway.
From henceforth, I'm not bothering to see any horror movies that aren't rated R...

I thought it sucked as well...unfortunate, 'cause it did have potential:(
Did you see The Others? That's another movie that sounded good but fell flat on its face, for the most part.

The Others was a waste too, but I did enjoy the style of the opening credits. What I don't understand is, with light being such an important part of the plot, why didn't the director continue using shadows, lighting, etc. to his advantage? He didn't do anything with lighting past the opening credits
It could have been interesting, but instead falls pretty flat on its face.
