I can now carry any or all of my pistols, in any state or city I want, anytime I want. My concealed carry permit is good in all 50 states.
Even in states that don't give anyone carry permits:)
Fuckn excellent!
| Quote: | | To amend title 18, United States Code, to exempt qualified current and former law enforcement officers from State laws prohibiting the carrying of concealed handguns. |
| Quote: | Right to Carry Update
H.R. 218/S. 253
PRESIDENT BUSH SIGNS RIGHT TO CARRY INTO LAW
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!
July 22, 2004
President George W. Bush signed H.R. 218, the “Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act,” into law this morning at the White House. The bill became effective immediately upon the President’s signature. Now, qualified active and retired law enforcement officers are allowed to carry their firearm while off-duty for the protection of themselves, their families and our nation’s communities.
This morning Rep. Cunningham, author and tireless supporter of H.R. 218 for more than fourteen years, witnessed President Bush sign the bill into law. Speaking on the passage of this legislation, Representative Randy “Duke” Cunningham passionately stated, “And I would say that if one takes a look also at who supports these positions, they wrote this, the law enforcement agencies helped over the years write this bill. It helps them. If one looks to Law Enforcement Alliance of America, LEAA, the National Association of Police Organizations, NAPO, the National Law Enforcement Council, all of them support this bill, Mr. Speaker.”
The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) sincerely thanks Rep. Cunningham for his unwavering dedication to the law enforcement community. His determination to ensure the bill’s passage has brought additional safety and security to America’s officers and communities.
Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO), sponsor of similar legislation in the Senate, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT) and the Committee’s Ranking Member Patrick Leahy (D-VT) also played key roles in securing the President’s signature this morning. Due to the Senators’ unfailing commitment, the bill achieved overwhelming support and made its way to the President’s desk. NAPO would like to thank the House and Senate staffs, with whom NAPO, and other law enforcement groups, worked tirelessly. Such efforts should not go unnoted.
NAPO Executive Director Bill Johnson once again offered his thanks to all of the law enforcement organizations who have worked so hard to make this happen, including the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO), the International Union of Police Associations (IUPA), the Southern States Police Benevolent Association (SSPBA), the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), the Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA), the National Law Enforcement Council and the National Troopers Coalition (NTC). |

That's awesome! So if the aliens ever attack while you are in Hawaii you will be safe in knowing your pitiful pistol is useless against their laser cannons and force-fields.

There is nothing I hate more than socialism, but the right to have arms has no meaning beyond symbolic of freedom under gov't. I don't care what you have in your basement. The US Army has a bajillion times more, and if it ever came down to a war between US Citizens vvs the US Armed Forces I don't care if every citizen had the best firearm legally ownable we would get reamed harder than a french terrorist.
Right to bear arms became a pointless one 100 years ago.

There are well over 250 million privately owned firearms in the US and thats just the ones that are known. The military cannot touch that amount...and you forget a very important fact. The US military IS the US citizen, they are one in the same.
But this post needs to be in its own thread, it has nothing to do with the law that was passed.

Only point I'm saying is that I could only see 2 uses for a privately owned firearm where you wouldn't be using it supress crime.
Vs the US Army or a Foreign invading power. In both cases you're completly f****d as is and just better learn to comply.

Glock 22, I need to get my CC. Here in AZ it is fairly easy to get one, but no permit even needed to carry unconcealed.

I'm not so sure. Look at Iraq. They're doing pretty well against the US Armed Forces, with relatively primitive weapons. I'd like to think that if it came to that, Americans could do as well against a heavily armed, oppressive government. They have stuff that's not legal here of course, but not that much, and every extra gun helps.

Oh come on Sin ;p
They're not doing *well*.
Their entire country is occupied by what... 100.000 troops? 200.000? 300.000? I dunno the number exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's infinitly smaller than the number of people that live in Iraq.
Terrorist activity is designed to have a disproportionate effect, but not in any way could you ever describe their position as *well* in military terms. Yes they have an effect, but well (for them) would mean they'd be chasing American hiney out of Iraq IMO.

No, they'll never chase the Americans out of Iraq; they don't have a prayer of doing that. What they can do, and very likely will do, is make it painful enough that we eventually leave on our own, without being chased. We've pretty much fallen back behind our walls at this point. We don't dare go into many of the cities, and can only barely patrol the roads. For every insurgent we kill, we create many more. We'll never "pacify" Iraq. Literally, the only thing we can do is indiscriminantly kill massive numbers of Iraqis. If that would demoralize them, we'd win. But it won't.
In a scenario where the US were "taken over"; we'd use exactly the same tactics, if we were strong enough to pay the price.

This is the greatest post on RealPoor. If I had a printer, I'd print it out. However, I work in a paperless home office. I have no printer, but I will carry this image with me at least for the next 3 days.

Like I said, there is an effect, but I don't see it as the terrorists doing "well" in any way, shape of form. You could just as easily say that in spite of the resistance America has managed to stay dominant in Iraq, despite infinitly lesser numbers.
I'd imagine it would be pretty much the same in the scenario you describe.

Yeah, you can transport firearms on planes, and under this law you could probably carry it. Otherwise you have to check it with your luggage.
