If this is the only thing you are interested and you only want a yes or no answer, then I can tell you, simply yes. There is role play in Lord of the Rings and it is pretty much good, though everything can be better, even role play. On the other hand it is good that you are not expecting anything like the movies Lord of the Rings, because you will not get anything like that at all. Of course there are some similarities, but some things are totally new and totally different. As I have said, role play is great and as far as role play is considered you can start playing the game right away.
