You're right. The Axis powers never attacked the United States. My mistake.

Oh, Japan was allied with Germany. Sorry, I completely didn't know that. They must have skipped that chapter in every history book ever written. Of course "the middle east" never attacked the US either.

ARE YOU KIDDING?

Yes, Japan and Germany were allied long before the United States declared war on either of them. That is one of the reasons why Germany declared war on the United States before we declared war on them. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, the U.S. declared war on Japan, Germany declared war on the U.S. and then the U.S. declared war on Germany.

This is not something that has been skipped over in every history book ever written" and if you are serious, one would have to question whether you have ever actually read any history book about WW2.

Wrong. They were "allied" with Germany insomuch as they were at war with the United States after WW2 began. Before that, Germany was not "allied" with Japan. The US cut off oil supplies to Japan just months before Pearl Harbor, prompting Japan to attack in order to try and secure it's supply from Indochina (Japan has no oil supply of its own). Prior to their attack, and also in response to America cutting off oil, Japan and Germany signed a pact with Japan (as both were embattled with communism) in order to discourage the US from entering the wars. It basically was a truce between them that kept them from attacking one another. They never actually cooperated with eachother.

The Axis was extended to include Japan as a result of the Tripartite Treaty of September 27, 1940.

Germany and Japan were formal allies over a year before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. But don't let facts bog you down.

In our next episode, we teach Confused the truth about the Tooth Fairy.

That was the treaty I was referring to. Why don't you read it and see what it actually contains?
