I wouldn't really call it a "transfer of sovereignty" to Iraq by any stretch of the imagination. There will be 14 permanent US military bases in Iraq with over 100,000 US troops stationed there. Doesn't sound very sovereign to me, but hey, it's good PR.

There are permanent bases in Germany, too. So they're not sovereign either?

WTF did you expect .. as much as I'd like to see us pull out of there, that's simply impossible right now. Budding Democracies need a lot of care in their infancy stages...

i dont think we have been in japan for the past 60 years because we are still working on there democracy, its been stable and running as well as any other democracy in the world since prolly the 60s.
