|
|
|
So I finally got myself and Ipod (I love it to death), but the only problem I'm having is when I try to burn one of my CD's onto it, I can only copy 1 CD and then when it's all done updating etc and I take out the CD from the drive and put in another one, the drive starts blinking excessively and refuses to let me take it out.
That paired with the fact that the CD icon keeps popping up in itunes and never fully loads the CD into itunes for me to burn onto the ipod is annoying the living shit out of me. The only fix I've found so far is I have to reboot my computer for EACH cd I want to load onto my ipod. Is there any way around this? Thanks in advance.
The only way I can turn off my computer once the 2nd CD is in, is to unplug the power cord, which doesn't seem healthy for the computer, especially if I'm going to be doing it 50+ times in a day.

I know someone out there has an answer besides reinstalling the itunes software numerous times.

You've been infected with apple, I'm afraid you're beyond the help of anyone who roams these boards.

I laugh everytime I see a moron walking around with an Ipod, or any other Apple product. I seriously think the only reason why Apple is still around is because Intel / Microsoft are buying stuff from them and feeding them money, just so they can say they have "competition".
I seriously don't get why *anyone* would buy one. They're more crash prone then PC's, support WAY less software, and are incrediably slow. Apple sorta redeemed itself by writing OSX on a FreeBSD (or is it Linux? Really though, who cares?) core. Sure their OS has some niffty features, but Windows XP has *games* and a host of other software.
If you're looking for an alternative to Windows XP, try a free OS like Linux or FreeBSD. You don't have to overpay for a machine that runs half as slow as a PC that would be 3x cheaper to build, and you can even dual boot it with Windows!

those are ownage but i wouldnt buy one, think about how close they are to adding avi , mpeg2 playback and shit to that, they already have the screen and the audio, way to close to spend 320 bucks on that when waiting a year will get you somethin so much better.

there's firewire support on ipod, I think that was my main problem...no firewire card installed in my piece of shit I call a computer so the USB port I'm using isn't up to speed with the Ipod connection or something. I'll look into it this weekend. Thanks for everyone's advice, oh wait it all sucked ass

Nope. Even though it's advertised as 480 Mbs, and firewire is 400 Mbs, firewire transfers faster.

even so more computers have usb ports than firewire and the difference in speed is fairly neglible.

USB2 transfers have a higher insidence of data corruption, so for as far as backups go firewire is the win.

ya i looked at creative alot before i bought my iriver, didnt get that model with pictures cause this was like a year ago but the one before it, in retrospect i dont really mind cause i would only want color for movie plaback and in terms of battery life the non color lasts a decent bit longer... sony is making a player with movie playback but its 700 bucks and since sony quality sucks i dont have much hope for it. I dont see how when a hdd player costs ~300 simply adding movie playback and nothing else drives up the price, shouldnt be that hard to decode the video without doubling the price... stupid sony =(
And regan ya firewire has some reall good points over usb2 but corruption isnt really a huge issue now as it was, its getting better and usb is still more universal so it has goods and bads, in terms of straight up quality/efficiency tho firewire wins.

In sonys defense tho, the HD1 has a fuckton of battery life. Still 700$ for the video capable one? Ouch.

word of advice here, get a usb2/firewire card that has a power plug on it. Most older motherboards wont support enough power through the pci bus to power the ipod.
I purchaced a belkin 2 usb2 2 firewire card, with the power plug and have had no problems with my ipod since.
btw, ipod is the f*****g bomb, and I hate apple.

Any good OS+backup software will give you the "verify written" option, regardless of the media used. I don't see USB2 so-called corruption as being anything more than FUD.
