I went to the car show at the Javits center in manhattan this weekend. I wasn't impressed, was bored actually. It was like going to the auto mall a few blocks away from my house. Herds of smelly humans walking around trying not to bang into each other as they stared at production line cars. I rememebr going to the car show as a kid and it was a big thing then. Alot of concept cars, crazy new shapes, colors, crazy motors, most never went into production, but who cared it was fun. Now all they do is park cars that are currently in production , most panted silver or gray on rugs and thats it. Boring. At this show I only saw like 5? concept cars and 2 of them were fords, the 2005 mustang and the 427 sedan that might go into production. Even jeep was there, with like 9 jeeps on rugs, wtf, I see 100 jeeps a day why did they even bother. Except for a few super high priced cars that you only see on TV and the Shelby display OUTSIDE that was free, it was a waste of time and cash, oh wait...I got my party in free, NYPD was working entrance and they hooked me up...it was still a waste of time.
But I have to add, this baby is nice, the Vanquish!

I liked the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, there were a few good things to see there.

Doctor's waiting rooms are more interesting than car shows.

Well, cars had just been invented then, right? Of course it was more exciting. Anything for a change from the old horse-and-carriage.

The only auto shows worth going to are the Tokyo, LA and Detroit ones. Why bother putting up a decent auto show in NYC when hardly anyone buys a car back east cause they have decent mass transit. I can't imagine many people buying a car in the city. f**k a parking space probably costs more than rent in most places I bet. =o

I've gone to Javits every year for ages...except for this year LOL
Most of what impressed me were the colors on the concept cars LOL But, then again, I owned (ok WE owned) three Corvettes....and my Caddy..and well, cars don't come much better than that.
And yes, I always buy American and always GM
Argue all that what you will bout foreign cars vs American cars...having worked in a shop for more than 15 years, you can keep them
And btw...I'm home! <just in case anyone missed me :p>
