I agree with you. Both games posses qualities and theres no need to compare them. Im a World of Warcraft fan but I respect Guild Wars as well. Yes, they have many technical similarities, and thats because they belong to the same genre, but the core is different. I think that not only the person who has played both games can tell which one is better, because it boils down to a discussion similar to the one whether vanilla ice cream is better that chocolate ice cream. And also, I think its a matter of some kind of loyalty to play just one of these. I, personally, will always stick to World of Warcraft, which doesnt mean I thing Guild Wars is worse in any sense.
