OK, so is the decision on this already made, or what? I mean is it the definitive choice, we're having instanced PvP areas? Or is there some chance of the designers coming round and doing the right thing? It's just that I don't like the idea of PvP being effectively relegated out of the world and into a number of separated areas…

Basically yes, it's been decided a long time ago AFAIK, and for what it's worth I agree with the choice. I don't buy into the argument that "maintaining the world" is somehow more important than having PVP handled the right way.
