Is there, like, a guide to professions of GW somewhere online? Which to select, where to learn its skills, which goes well as a secondary with which, that kind of stuff. I'm a newbie player and I need some basic-level advice like this. Also, at what level can I apply for my secondary profession? Thanks!

There are plenty of good online tutorials for profession selection, including the one at the official site, see here: http://www.guildwars.com/gameplay/professions/
But you should check out other sources as well, such as guildwarsguru.com. and rpgstars.com. Or just go to the official wiki page, http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Profession
The secondary profession is selected early on, once you've finished the "secondary profession" quest for Sir Tydus/ Armin Saberlin in Ascalon City.
