The government draws a distinction between sociopaths and violent schizophrenics. They believe that since sociopaths understand right and wrong, even though they don't agree with it, then they should be punished. It's kind of difficult to think that a person knows what right and wrong really is though when they have an entirely different idea of what "right and wrong" is.
Violent schizophrenics don't realize what they are doing is against the law and they will be punished for it, so they aren't held accountable for their actions.

How? because Montana still has some common sense. He is crazy, but that doesn't absolve him of his crime.

Here's something you might not know.
Real mentally ill patients overall are quite peaceful and generally don't commit violent crimes.
Its only those stupid f*****s who "black out" just long enough to kill their girlfriend who give the mentally ill a bad name.

Yes but I was comparing this case to the one from a few weeks ago with the mother and her children, and if I am mistaken she said she knew it was wrong.
The only real difference is that this guy pleaded guilty, they did say in the artical however that he was NOT insane.
