Unrar the file and play it with an emulator.

Hrm, personally I used ePSXe but configuring it is kind of gay especially judging by the "average realpoor user computer knowledge level"
You could probably manage it though.

at the beginning of disc 2, it sucked ass.. but only because it was like "you can't save till you go through 30 minutes of story, fight a boss, and if you die you have to go through the 30 minutes of story again!"
but before and after that, it pretty well owned me in the pants!

Yes, it does own, however the Soylent System fight (yeah, the one in the annoying area Tinladar mentioned where you save, have 30 min of text to read through, then fight the boss and if you die you have to go through the 30 min of text again) p****d me off horribly.

You can probably save state with the emulator to avoid that problem.

You're retarded, there's nothing less interesting about that part than any other in the game. If anything, Kislev being invaded is a pretty climactic part of the game.
