I don't really get it, how the quest-mission thing works in Guild Wars. Is it, like, quests are the more important missions that you HAVE to complete, and missions are just missions, the ones you can do for rewards but don't really have to? Also, what are these "attribute quests"?

Yeah, it's sort of how you describe it. The word "mission" is used for those that advance the storyline, the ones that you can't avoid if you want to progress through and finish the game. The word "quest" is used for tasks that NPCs offer you, and you have the option of taking them or not. Attribute quests are just quests in which you get attribute points as reward, like the Hero's Challenge quest, for example.
